during last night's NFL game, Directv ran an ad promoting the new Al Jazeera channel in their line up.
No WAY.
I just sent them an email giving them two options ---
Block/remove it, or cancel my account.
Not going to come into our house.

Get a Roku. We did last spring, and cancelled our TV. We don’t even have an off-air antenna.
Yep.
My bill started out low for the ‘Premium’ channels at under $100/month...it finally worked its way up to over $150.
I just called them one day and said I’d lost my job and I needed to shed as much as possible. Long story short, I worked my way through a couple of reps and finally got one that reduced my bill to just under 100 with no changes in coverage for 6 months. At the end of the 6 months I called back and told them I wanted to cancel and I got another 6 month extension.
I trust al Jazeera more than I trust ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and PMSNBC combined.
You can block the channel yourself, or down grade your package until its out of the offerings line up.
We lost several "movie" channels...but we have Netflix so we haven't missed those channels.
The main thing is we don't have AJ coming in to the house and an added bonus is the $$ we're saving/month. I specifically told DISH why we were lowering our service. At the end of the call, the rep said "You really don't care for AJ, do you?!"
But Beck is all for homosexual so called marriage.
Just went though the Entertainment Weekly and identified my fall viewing line up with about 10 to 12 programs a week to watch.
I follow the Billy Doux web site for reviews, and a few other places, and if they find some shows on the cable/sat that seem to match my interest, I'll likely pick up a DVD box set and proceed to binge my way though the season. Last series I purchased was Orphan Black, which is excellent.
I've tried Netflix and Hulu, we have such poor i-net at home that it is difficult, with many freezes. The content line-up hasn't met my viewing habits very well to date.
Thought about this as well.
Same here
It's really 'straight' compared to MSNBC/ CNN, etc.
News like it used to be - keeping an eye out for any 'slant'
Commercials are on all the other channels - last night it seemed like it was on every commercial break while watching American Pickers on the History channel.
I know. This is a “fire for effect” moment.
That’s what I did with Comcast - downgraded and lost the military channel, too. But I am NOT paying for anti-American, anti-Semitic, pro-Mohammedan crap.
On my TV I only watch the channels I want. I go from one to another by pushing number buttons on the remote control. Of course my TV’s pretty modern...
Simple...don’t watch it. Even with the deep pockets of the Arab oil sheiks sooner or later they will not be able to support it without outside advertisers. If no one is watching Al Jazeera and those advertisers on it are shunned or boycotted it won’t be long before they are gone.
Exactly
Its time for people to get together and force congress to break the bundling packages of cable and dish TV service. If we want to subscribe to a dozen channels of choice we should not have to support all the garbage they offer.
Can you DVR on a Roku? Much of my TV watching is from recordings.
haven't had cable in a couple years.. Roku coupled with a digital antenna should get most of what you want
Just boxed up receiver and shipped it to them. No more TV
All for it, as in strongly supportive, or merely willing to tolerate it? There is a difference.
HOMOSEXUAL, because there's nothing GAY about it.
