Well, I sure screwed it up today I went to sit down on a chair that wasn't there and fell, now I can't move my legs and the ER released me saying nothing is broke so there is nothing they can/will do. No brace, no chair, no crutches, nothing. The doctor didn't even touch me, tell me to wiggle toes, take my temp, listen to my heart, nothing...just a CT scan and then let me go. I couldn't even get in the car without a nurse, 2 cops and a citizen who offered to help. I don't know what to do now, I can't walk :'(
This is of course concerning to me since I have a fused spine and ongoing issues. I'm calling my pain management doc to see if he wants to do something different.
They act that way with everyone. It takes 10 phone calls to reach a person that will really help you.I could try to get you the wheelchair but have no way to get it to you.You need a Patient’s advocate.
Prayers for you and don't give up. I just had to deal with insurance companies myself-nightmare.
Unfortunately, I can’t think of any way to get a used one to me without having to mail it. I’m praying something good happens between now and the time they take it from me. With any luck, I will be gone on the day they send the rep to take it. I don’t know what I’m going to do after they take it away.
I knew you were replying to an older post...I was just catching you up to date on the new prayer need, not realizing you were actually already up to date. I didn’t take it that you were saying anything against me!
I’m so sorry to hear this sad turn of events and join in urgent prayer for you!
!!!!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!!!
News on my medical front...saw my pain management doctor Friday. They can’t do anything with the current treatment, so they are suggesting a spinal cord stimulator. It’s wires and a battery pack implanted. The wires go into the spinal column, the battery pack is implanted in the back of my hip and I would have a hand held unit to change the settings. The battery charger would be placed over the battery pack once a week using a belt to hold it in place. I will get a procedure to test it first, if...while on the table...I don’t feel anything positive, it’s taken off and we try something else (they wouldn’t elaborate...they said something, but wouldn’t repeat it)...if at first I think it might work, they tape it all down and let me try it for a week or two. If I like how it works, it’s surgically implanted...if not, it’s removed and go back to plan B
Also, I’m being told my wheelchair will be picked up by Friday as the insurance is refusing further rental of it. Can they really do that when my legs still won’t work?
Please pray for a miracle...and if anyone has had this procedure done with good or not good results, I’m begging you to tell me your experience with it...I’m a bit unsure about implanting an electrical device inside my body!
We’ve had patients with anaphylactic shock who took Advil thinking it wasn’t ibuprofen the way Motrin was!
My preacher’s wife has one of those devices implanted, and it’s the only thing keeping her going. She broke her back years ago and is in unending pain without that unit. It might be a blessing for you, too!
God bless!
The more I read about it and read reviews about it, the more scared I get. I don’t want to refuse a treatment recommended by my doctor for relief, but I don’t like what I’m seeing!
I wish you could talk to my preacher’s wife. She couldn’t walk without it. Morphine does not help her any more.
Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Ya know? :)
Thank you for keeping us informed, dear trussell - Jeepers, you are facing a lot these days. Prayers continue...
Dear, dear Trussell
So sorry to hear about your troubles.
This has nothing to do about obamacare, IMO. Long, long B4 Hitlery brought the subject to the fore, I had the occasion to visit the ER, with an emergency ortho problem. The ER doc totally mis-diagnosed the issue, and a ortho specialist caught it B4 we left the hospital.
I think you have a mis-diagnosis and hope you can see a specialist.
You remain in my fervent prayers for a speedy recovery!
They tried to do something similar with a bladder unit on me, I turned them down flat after I dug into the blogs.
Because if the probe gets growth over it you are in WORSE condition than you are in now as IT cannot be REMOVED with out causing paralysis for life.
she also has 0’care and Mooch’s diet plan to contend with if they ever get her in rehab.
Sadly true...
That is DEFINITELY something to ask about...thank you for the information!
The woman who made our curtains has one of these. It works great for her. One caveat - one day she woke up and she couldn’t move. It had stopped working. I can’t remember if it was the battery or the device itself just died. Anyway, it took a few days for them to schedule the surgery, but she’s moving just fine again. I had never heard of these before, I find them fascinating.
I did not read the thread but I would suggest a Neurologist working in close consultation with an Orthopedic Surgeon. And get three opinions. Prayers to your complete recovery.
Thank you for that...It’s interesting that she couldn’t move when it stopped working...it should have just made her pain levels increase, not temporarily paralyze her. This is only a pain block system...it’s suppose to block the message of pain to the brain, like an external tens unit, but implanted for longer term relief
