TV viewers are sophisticated. They want to be challenged. They want to analyze and ponder while they sit in front of the tube watching the primetime lineup, right? Um, no.
Obviously, there are some successful shows that really make us think, but it seems NBCs Million Second Quiz has simply managed to puzzle viewers instead of intrigue them. With its viewership declining daily, the obviously pricey endeavor may be NBCs latest programming mistake.
On its Monday premiere night, the hyped 8 p.m. hour-long game show saw only 6.5 million viewers, according to Deadline Hollywood. By 8:30 p.m., more than 500,000 viewers had changed the channel. And viewership has continued to decline ever since.

I didn’t watch it at all. I was reading the latest Lee Child book instead.
They were scraping the barrel for brain dead viewers and came up empty.
It’s struggling because Ryan Seacrest is despised by Americans. Broncos fans made us all proud by lustily booing him before the NFL premiere last week.
The title is horrible IMHO. I’m sure it’s turning viewers away.
I watched it.
Convoluted, contorted and contrived.

TV? I watched it too, and agree with your analysis.
I liked Weakest Link too. I even tried out to be a contestant.

You know there was a time, Red Skelton, Bob Hope, Ed Sullivan, The Steve Allen Show, Burns and Allen, Jack Benny and those were just some of the ones that made you laugh. Not even getting into the ones that made you think.
Sorry, I was busy watching “How To Keep An Idiot In Suspense”
I’m just posting to kill time during the commercials
Haven’t really liked any game show since “It Pays To Be Ignorant” went off the air.
Course, one of my favorite all-time shows was the “$1.98 Beauty Pageant” so my tastes are relatively simple....
I like the version they did on "Doctor Who", set in the 501st century.
It’s entertaining for the most part. The questions are generally fairly easy (it’s shocking how many people miss so many questions), and the rules are pretty simple, too. I don’t get what’s so confusing about it.
Im the old days we had a few stinkers that were very popular too:

Without question, but overall the shows were more entertaining, enjoyable and wholesome. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a prude, but remember when you could watch a celebrity roast without being disgusted?
“Alex, I’ll take SACKS OF WORTHLESS S**T for $1000.”
“The answer is.....’This worthless sack of s**t left Americans to die in Benghazi’”.
BeepBeepBeep
“Ken!”
“Barack Obama!”
“Oh, Ken, remember that all answers must be in the form of a question.”
“Why is Barack Obama still our President?”
“Judges? It appears that no one knows the answer to that question, Ken.”
In those days there was just three channels- and only one TV in the house.
Advertisers insisted programs appeal to all.
Now advertisers can insist shows appeal to specific segments of the population, and clueless idiots are their favorite segment.
I liked Match Game and TattleTales, but I was an odd 10 year old.
