Those are all fine photos far superior to the Andreas Gurskey photo that some moron paid some 4 million bucks for.
He said it shows the constraints man has placed on earth's rivers.

I looked at the pictures before reading the article, and was puzzled by the large number of Arab photos—which are, in fact, very beautiful.
Then I read the article. Not surprising that there are a number of desert photos, since this contest is for the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award.
Oh, well. Could be a much worse use of that money.
