VATICAN CITYAs head of state at the Vatican, as well as leader of the worlds 1.2 billion Catholics, Pope Frances broke protocol yet again this morning when he bowed to his houseplant moments before watering it.
Francis, who has made ignoring protocol and tradition a trademark of his papacy, went on to bow to his refrigerator moments before extending his hand to open it.
This man is absolutely fascinating, the Popes photographer, Roberto Salamanca, told the Italian newspaper LOsservatore Romano earlier this afternoon. The man breaks many, how you say, protocollo. All day today I spent photographing him, and you know how long it took him to make a cheese sandwich? 45 minutes. He bows to the refrigerator before opening it, then bows to a loaf of bread before removing it from the refrigerator. Each slice he takes out, he bows to the toaster, bows, takes out a slice of cheese, bows. Ive never seen such humility.
At press time, Pope Francis is stuck in a catch-22 as he considers whether bowing to the mirror before brushing his teeth, and consequently bowing to his own papal reflection, would contradict his show of humility.
Did he leave it there?
Future headline: Pope Francis bows to tie his shoe laces.
Pope Francis bows to his bow tie! Pope Francis bows to his bow when pulling it on the archery range!
Pope Francis bows to the floor...correction he lost his balance and keeled over....
Not so fast!
Non-believers may be forgiven if not properly instructed or if they are illiterate and have not either been exposed to true teaching or havent had the time to do so because of their station in life -loneliness or have been immersed in false ideas. The current scandal of course is the 35, 000 different brands of the truth that exists when there is only one truth. The Catholic Church.
I can see Peter opening the Gates of Heaven to atheists and agnostics rather than the Jimmy Swaggarts, David Koreshes, Jim (Kool-Aid) Jones; Rev. Jeremiah God Damn America Wrights and the Rev. Benny Hinns and prosperity-gospel Joel Osteens of this world.
The atheists and agnostics who adopt the beaten, starving, and orphaned child has a better chance in Paradise than the Carry the Bible in My Pocket and quote Scripture crowd. Wasnt this the lesson of the Good Samaritan? If this is what Pope Francis had in mind, and there is no reason to believe otherwise, he is true to the Sermon on the Mount.
While the whole thing is interesting, I just never got the attraction or relevancy.
The man breaks many, how you say, protocollo. “
Or breaks with reality?
There you go, workout before you enjoy your dessert!
