Robocop was cool back when we thought cops were on our side and they didn’t shoot the dog every time they came by.
Now we have warrior cops who ride in APC’s like some third world fascist state.
It’s not cool any more.

Hollywood has no NEW ideas.

Don’t tell me: Robocop follows a black teen acting suspicious and the teen smashes robocops head in and robocop shoots him and the rest of the movie is about racism.

It does not look promising. Robocop was one of the best drive-in movies ever made, made so by the performance of Peter Weller as his character struggled to find his humanity.
We can already see how its going to go. Murphy was originally "killed" in one of the most gruesome and cruel scenes ever in a major Hollywood film, and brought back to life by a corporation that considered him a product. Now he is "killed" in a car explosion?
He originally had his memory erased, and struggled to remember his family, now he remembers everything, and has daddy issues with his son?
I think I will let you all see it first.

I never understand Hollywood remaking a good movie. The remake will always be measured against the original; and that sets a very high bar. The original Robocop was a great movie not only because it was a great action flick, it had a great story line and excellent actors for all the rolls. A very high bar to try and top.

I see the ad's all the time for this & that new movie.
Havent seen anything since Master & Commander in a movie theatre. That, a decade ago.
Only went to see that after reading all of the Aubrey-Maturin books, & took my Dad, because I knew he would like it.
And at that time he was near 80 and didnt get out much
Havent seen ANYTHING in a theater since.
Hollyweird just doesnt make much of anything I want to see...

I’ll keep my non-blue-ray-dvd of the original.
Oh, did you catch the phrase in one of the trailers, where the term, “the illusion of free will”, was spoken?
I agree, back before cops became federalized, militarized, thugs.

I’ll stick with the original movie Hollywood, but thanks for wasting millions of dollars on a remake.

If they’re going to remake something, remake Clue. I won’t care if they decide to change the ending. I won’t care if they gave it five new endings. (I’d love it, in fact!) just keep it funny! ... No, wait, I see the problem with that. Hollywood isn’t funny any more.

Will probably be another loud CGI snoozefest. I’d see it if they’d do the effects with stop motion animation like the original. That would be a cool retro move.

To quote the original
Robocop:
"I like it!!"
I especially like the updated and sleeker looking ED-209.

You can re-launch Robocop until the cows come home...you will NEVER top Kurtwood Smith’s performance in the original. Never.
