How To Solve The Fast Food Strike In Two Simple Words
American Glob ^ | Aug 29,2013

YOU’RE FIRED.

This is a teachable moment for America and I sincerely hope that the owners of all the fast food franchises where employees walked out on strike today take full advantage.

Fire them all, every last one of them.

There are hundreds of thousands of people in America right now who are desperate to find jobs of any kind. This national demonstration by fast food employees, which is happening on the eve of Labor Day weekend (sheer coincidence) is nothing more than the latest McProtest by leftists and union supporters.

The only time flipping burgers is a career is if you own or manage a hamburger restaurant in which case you probably work your ass off for 60+ hours a week and take all or most of the risks.

Working the cash register at a fast food restaurant is not a 9 to 5 forty hour job that pays $40K with benefits. Working the cash register at a fast food restaurant is never going to be a 9 to 5 forty hour job that pays $40K with benefits.

You don’t like working for $7.25 an hour? Welcome to the world, no one does. That’s why resourceful people get second jobs, develop more marketable job skills and volunteer their time to network and make new contacts.

Here’s one more nugget of education for the strikers… You’re not workers, you’re employees and with very few exceptions, employees can be fired by their employer for any reason.

I know some sign carrying douchebag handed you a flyer today telling you all about workers’ rights at the big protest but he’s wrong. If he knew anything about having a job, he wouldn’t have been there in the first place.

If today’s protesters have any sense, they’ll report to work tomorrow and apologize to their bosses. If their bosses have any sense, they’ll say hit the road.

most of those demonstrating don’t work for the restaurants, so it won’t work...

And yes, touch screens and hamburger flipping computers would do the job fine.

they forget that these are “entrance level” jobs: they train more teenagers on how to get up, come to work, work hard, stay clean, and be nice, all skills needed in the workplace. So most folks then go on and get a better job

I was just chatting with my neighbors about it...

If some guy (or gal) working for McD’s wants to make a living and get rich, they sure ain’t gonna be out walking the line.

They’d be home writing the next App that people use on their cell phones.
You know that app.

The one where you punch a couple keys on your cell fone, drive through the drive through, wave your cell phone in front of the sensor, and NFC (Near Field Communications) takes your order, deducts it from your account. No cashier involved. Next, you drive ten feet forward and a window opens up, and just like in the old Star Treks, your meal is there.

Untouched by a human. Maybe even not a single human in the store.

Of course then the ex McD employees would be at the state capital rallying and complaining that unemployment doesn’t give them enough to live on...

It’s gonna happen. It’s inevitable.
