Take our 13-question quiz to test your knowledge of scientific concepts. Then see how you did in comparison with the 1,006 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a national poll conducted by the Pew Research Center and Smithsonian magazine.
The analysis of the findings from the poll can be found in the full report. (No peeking! If you are going to take the quiz, do it first before reading the analysis.)
My wife is the same way. Then, just yesterday morning, she discovered Calculus all on her own. We were bemoaning that it is darker in the morning when the alarm goes off. She observed that not only that, but that it seemed to be changing more rapidly day-to-day.
I explained that she was correct and that was the first derivative that she had observed. I think she gets it a little bit better now.
Something was wrong on the test RE the “speed of light” question — there were four choices ‘a’ through ‘d’, but no text ....
Awww! So I wasn’t completely off the mark. Thanks!
Same here 13/13. Too easy. Think my first grader could have gotten the same score.
I surprised myself and got all 13 correct.
12 of 13. No college, barely graduated High School. Knew most the answers, only guessed on one the Nitrogen question and got it wrong. Far and away the question most people got wrong.
Do I get extra credit for knowing I’m a male? These days that’s a tough question for many.
b, because the answer to this type of question is always b.
Someday, I hope, our individual survival will depend on us individually. Then we will see.
It would probably be news to ALGore. He said C02, Obama answered C3PO, and Jessie Jackson answered that it was a racist question.
Trick question. Define “due time” and the question could be answered.
Imagine if most of hte air was helium {snicker}
Maybe you haven't heard that there is no longer a WRONG answer to that question.
How about questions for those ‘non linear’ emotive thinkers?

Continental drift is caused by?
A. The NRA.

11 out 13.
It gets warmer, reason: the fridge works by putting heat out from the inside compartment and dissipating it outside. When the door is open the two processes cancel each other, but since the equipment (electrical motor and etc) isn't perfect some electrical energy doesn't do useful work and is dissipated outside as heat. This causes the room to warm up. The fridge's thermostat won't stop the process since the desired temperature is never reached. You don't need any extra information for this problem.
It sounds like you may want to take your own advice. One of the immutable qualities of CO2 is that it is transparent to short-wave energy and opaque to long-wave. In other words, light will easily pass through it, bur heat is absorbed and reradiated. This has been known since the 20s and is easily demonstrated.
You've picked the right one. A funny thing, no reasoning has been needed :)
Whatever long time.
I have a special on a “nitrogen fill” for your tires for only $20 a piece! :-)
