Take our 13-question quiz to test your knowledge of scientific concepts. Then see how you did in comparison with the 1,006 randomly sampled adults asked the same questions in a national poll conducted by the Pew Research Center and Smithsonian magazine.
The analysis of the findings from the poll can be found in the full report. (No peeking! If you are going to take the quiz, do it first before reading the analysis.)
In a kitchen there's a working fridge with the door open. In due time the kitchen temperature will:
Look at the articles and websites that explain how "Common Core State Standards" came into being, what they purport to teach, and the data collection on each student. It's nothing but socialist indoctrination beginning in kindergarten (and going through college if they get their way).
You scored better than 63% of the public, below 25% and the same as 12%.
I accidently skipped a couple of answers and missed the one on the earths atmopshere
12/13. Damned nitrogen.
PS: If “Common Core” is fully implemented, virtually no one would know the correct answers to these questions - much less the harder test(s).
If the sampling is truly accurate and I’m (currently) among the mere 7% who scored 13 out of 13 correct, then we are in trouble. I’m no brainiac and these questions are laughably simple.
Inefficient frdige? Will the compressor runn longer to produce the same amount of cooling? Where is the thermostat? What time of year is it (house furnace set to heat or cool?).
But to play your game, the temperature will probably stay the same.
I worked around air cylinders for a few years, and recalled “NO2”.
12/13 - because THEY are wrong about #4
13 of 13. Our standards must be going down. Way down.
Math was always tough for me. I never did figure out what Calculus is. Course it could be because I went to class exactly twice.
All sorts of stuff throws that sort of thing in now for indoctrination purposes.
What time of year is it (house furnace set to heat or cool?)
No other factor (whether artifical or natural)interferes with the fridge.
But to play your game, the temperature will probably stay the same.
No. Explanation or you make another attempt?
I was thinking the same thing :-) I also thought that fracking was for extracting oil; fortunately for me it was not an option on this "multiple guess" quiz.
Me too. I was going to click on nitrogen but just doubted myself!
Fracking can be used for oil or gas.
By "thermostat" I meant household thermostat, controlling A/C or heat.
Sorry, but must disagree, my 'e. fill-in the blank' would be Charles Babbage (1791-1871) whose mechanical calculating engines had all of the basic operational units that modern computers use.
I too got 13/13 even though I am not qualified to assess the thoughts of ‘most scientists.’
I didn’t like the grammar. ‘Is this statement...’ shouldn’t get answered by a true or false. It should either be ‘This statement is...’ and complete the sentence with a true or false or ‘Is this statement true?’ and have it answered by a yes or no.
What did the proton say to the electron?
Wait for it.
“Why are you so negative all the time!?”
