In the Season 4 premiere of Duck Dynasty, Robertson family patriarch Phil and his wife of 48 years, Miss Kay, have a wedding ceremony in their back yard, officiated by their oldest son. They were just teens when they got hitched and couldnt afford a party.
There are no fights, no nudity, no designer gown and no other celebrities in sight, and yet nearly 12 million people tuned in. Wednesdays premiere set the record for most-watched nonfiction series on cable ever.
Compare that to the overhyped Kim Kardashian nuptials, which only had a third as many viewers (not to mention resulted in a sham marriage that lasted for 72 days).

It’s really a fun program to watch. I don’t care who you are, it’s funny and entertaining. Something TV and Movie executives have forgotten all about.
This is what we need. Once we had the Waltons and other good Real family values entertainment and of course Hollywood never understood the success of such shows. I think this displays a hunger for that just as we saw with the popularity of the Bible series. We need to stop throwing in the towel and start providing an alternative to typical msm because people don’t want to tune into gay propaganda every week as has been seen with the majority of those shows being canceled. Politically I believe there exists the same vacuum and we’ve seen it manifest itself when the message is clear such as in 1994 and 2010. Those who think the center right majority is gone really don’t understand that its not that its gone its that it really hasn’t had a candidate since Reagan. Bush and Bush II succeeded first on the coattails of Reagan and G.W. had the folksy Texan appeal that attracted a lot of those voters that often stay home because of disgust with the GOP and Democrats.
Each and every woman on that show has accomplished more than the Hillabeast.
As a Cajun, I am well aware that the vast majority of us are a great deal more talented than the congress critter and MSM crowd.
I have NOT watched a modern sitcom since probably the NEWHART show at the INN
I find it hard to believe that all of a sudden there is this wonderful show called Duck Dynasty that is somehow all of a sudden suitable for family viewing.
Are there no references to gays ever? Is there not just one sarcastic line after another followed by can laughter? Double negatives one after another
Forgive me but I am not about to change my policy in regards to modern sitcoms because NY Post and some people say it`s a wonderful Christian family show, I just find this very hard to believe
Would this program be on in a the Billy Graham household? Would a Pentecostal Minister who does not allow modern sitcoms in his home to unpacck the tv from the attic to make sure his family sees Duck Dynasty?
In my opinion Christians should not be watching any of the Hollywood modern movies or sitcoms
But wait a minute, now there is a tv show called Duck Dynasty that every chiild and family should view, because its so family oriented with great Christian values for all
Yes I add sarcasm
My brother tried to tell me I should start watching BIG BROTHER just because a nice Christian girl from Facts of Life.. Lisa Welchel or something like that needs money
No thanks
First, it’s not a sitcom. It’s an unscripted “reality” show. And the family gathers at the table and prays at the end of each episode. Once the producers even let “in Jesus’ name” slip through.
You really should watch the show. It’s about a family business, men being men, God, and guns.
Cynical much? Sounds like you could use a vacation.
The only time I remember anything GLBT is the one episode where Miss Kay hired a photographer to do a family portrait of her, Phil her husband of 48 years and their two dogs. Phil sort of rolled his eyes at the guy but that was about it. Maybe two sentences.
There is no canned laughter because it doesn't need it. At the beginning, the producers would bleep a word until Phil told them to stop it because no one was cussing. If the producers suggest a plot, they won't do it unless it's what they'd normally be doing.
Yes, I do believe Billy Graham would approve. Phil is a born again Christian and speaks at churches. All the sons are married. Alan, the oldest, is a preacher. Willie and his wife adopted two minority children and are foster parent advocates. Jase claims he saved himself for marriage. Uncle Si, a Viet Nam vet, is addicted.... to tea. At the end of every episode, family and friends gather around the dinner table as Phil says grace.
This is one show parents don't have to cringe when the kids are in the room. This is one show kids should be watching. Phil and Kay's grandkids are respectful, say yes sir and no sir and there's not a potty mouth in the bunch. It's all about good wholesome family values and togetherness. Heck, The Andy Griffith Show is controversial compared to DD.
Just an addition to comments. I went to Walmart the other day to get some motor oil and there were racks of camo clothing with “Duck Dynasty” printing on them. There were other items around the rack of clothing but I didn’t take the time to see what was there. They probably are sold out already. lol

May not be much in the big picture but it sure did mean a whole lot to the family.
This is kind of dumb, after previewing and posting, I was instructed to “preview and post” again, that’s why the double post. Sorry about that.
My wife got me the Squirrel brains T shirt.
I stand corrected. my apologies to all, yes I was to cynical, came across it yesterday (by what I thought was a accident) watched a couple episodes
Show has possibilities, all very likable.
The young daughter is going to be a rare beauty...waiting for in Jesus Name, but like the poster said, they did on one occasion
Just this second finally got my 2nd foot out of my mouth :)
Glad you are giving it a chance. And to ice the cake, Phil Robertson caught on video decrying abortion!
