At what point in the relationship do girlfriends or wives start choosing their man's clothing?

I went to Target to check on shirts. I see a well dressed gentleman, probably in his thirties. This guy had a pale blue dress shirt lined with thin vertical stripes in a darker tone, he wore a brocaded, sapphire blue tie, slate grey pants with the cleaner's crease still there, his shoes, Florshiem and shiny black.

I don't usually notice or give a damn what others wear. It looked to me as though he was capable of making his own mind up, instead, he passively waits and watches someone chose for him. My own attire, while always clean, is very casual. I've gotten used to people confusing me with someone wearing a Bus Driver uniform. That is how bland and consistently nondescript I look most the time. Once I know things fit well and match, my mind is no longer on clothing per se. In this instance, I wondered why this seemingly independent, man was allowing himself to be lead around like a puppy on a short, tight leash by the attractive woman who accompanied him. She held various shirts up to him, as though dressing a life sized doll or mannequin. "Take these to the dressing room", she ordered. "Yes Dear!" his look replies. I still make up my own mind about what to buy, and I don't tell my women what they should be wearing. I may chose to complement something or withhold comments when I don't like something.

I suppose having a woman select my clothes could be seen as a sort of honor. It may be one of the last vestiges of Geisha type courtesy that American men can still expect. I have seen some couples who dress like identical twins! That's not what I would choose, but to each his own.

Avtually I’m just kidding around. I have the greatest respect for our testosterone challenged co- humans. And I freely admit there are many areas in which they exceed us.

Take the highly skilled position of “Procurement Specialist”. It’s a high paying field that requires a serious amount of talent.

It isn’t just anyone that can infiltrate a temperature reduction facility and procure me bread encrusted protein ;)

It's a great look but not everybody can pull it off.

Give man a fish and a makeover...

Guys, I felt so bad for you when not a single outraged "ladie" responded to your efforts that I just had to take a break from my housework to throw you a bone.

*deep breath*

Oh, that's terrible. How could you say that? Oh, that's terrible. How could you say that? Men are so terrible. How could you say that?

There, I feel better now, and I hope you do, too!

Sorry about the weak verbiage; it’s early in the day yet.

You've probably seen the paint-store sign that reads, "Husbands selecting colors must have a note from their wife." -lol-

That being said, there are several men who just don't have the desire (or time!) or even no-how on how to look their best, so they appreciate the help from their significant other.

Which brings me to a funny story: My father's name was Cardinell, and my mother would accompany him, when the need arose, to select a suit (for funerals, weddings, dinners), and one time the salesman kept overhearing her say, "What do you think of this one, Cardinell?" Or, "How about trying this one on?" Well, the salesperson took my father to be a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church, and my mother as his secretary aiding him in his purchase, and my father (a non-church-attending Lutheran) quickly realized what was happening, and he played along to the hilt. He said he got the best service ever! :)

This thread will certainly hold the Obama administration accountable for the NSA fiasco.

I knew a guy who insisted on choosing his wife’s clothing.

That marriage didn’t last very long.

Who eats a sandwich for breakfast?

A BLT or an Egg sandwich is fine. Actually I don’t even eat breakfast. But if you make me one anyway I’ll keep it for lunch.

God what’s a guy gotta do to get a simple sandwich around this joint? I think I see the problem here TC. Way back some man ALLOWED women to wear shoes and it was all downhill from there. ;)

I could send you a BLT for lunch by DarksFAX, but the condition upon reception isn’t guaranteed. You might just get part of a pig, and that’s messy.

It looks like we’re heading back to all women (except me) going barefoot. Surely that’s the next step after all-occasion/year-round flip-flops.

And Burkas go so well with them too....Kind of a uniform. And so many in the west seem to be determined to get them.

I want to know how many decades does it take for a husband to chose his outfit for the day from his own closet. It’s worse than Jeff Foxworthy’s Flamingo Dance joke. Does this match? How about this? Maybe this? Why doesn’t blue go with green? But I don’t like those shoes.

And then there will be no more BLTs for anyone.

When the guy is colorblind - you help him as soon as you can.

I not only buy his clothes, I match them up when they come out of the wash. All he has to do is go to the closet and grab an outfit on a hanger. He, in turn, is responsible for purchasing all of the gasoline and the maintenance of all of our vehicles. Our system works.

Ronald Reagan was also colorblind and depended and Nancy picked out his clothes for him.

Wife cured me of this within one month
It was clear that I didn’t know what I was doing
She was kind but blunt

Along with washing her clothes
