John Mellencamp's sons face felony battery charges

Rocker John Mellencamp's two teenage sons face battery charges for allegedly punching and kicking a man during a fight that left the victim with serious facial injuries.

On Thursday, prosecutors in Monroe County, Ind., charged 19-year-old Hud Mellencamp of Nashville, Ind., and 18-year-old Speck Mellencamp, of Bloomington, with one count each of battery resulting in serious bodily injury.

Ty A. Smith, 19, of Bloomington, Ind., faces the same charge in the early morning July 29 attack.

There were people in the music biz that wouldn’t work with the father, and not just musicians but promotors, DJs, etc. basically anybody that had to have any contact with him. He had a very bad rep.

He's named after his grandfather, Speck Mellencamp. Hud, of course, after the movie character. When you grow up in Indiana you know everything about Johnny Cougar. He, himself, is just a redneck from Seymour who made it big. Married when he was 17, divorced a year later, married, divorced, I think 3 maybe 4 divorces. Hangs out with Meg Ryan now they get their obligatory facetime on tv when they attend IU basketball games at Assembly Hall. Go Hoosiers!
