A&E had the competition ducking for cover Wednesday, as its redneck reality smash Duck Dynasty kicked off its new season with a whopping 11.8 million viewers the largest audience ever for a non-fiction cable series.

I don’t follow DD, but I know the premise of the show. Yes, the left will probably use the stereotypical perception of the cast to denigrate conservatives, but who cares? DD is a reality show based on a successful family, contrast that with the Kardashian reality show. Which broadcast perpetuates the image of a dysfunctional, egomaniacal, excessive conspicuous consumption, promiscuous, airhead group of people? The show with the family who dresses well and shaves, right? ;)
Thanks for a real comment. So many people on here seem like liberal drones that want to attack ANYTHING that is wholesome clean fun.
It feels like "family" more than like the kardashians and is just stupid good clean fun. I couldn't stop myself from liking it.
Not allowed. Get the “just-us bros” on the line. STAT!
Phil did have some rough patches early on when he owned a bar and before he found God.
I heard his testimony on CBN and it was quite moving!
“Great Christian values, true. HOWEVER, I cannot help but be embarrassed by the entire cast and have a suspicion that the producers are sitting back and laughing at us right wing nuts.”
Right wing nuts come in all shapes and sizes and Christian values come from those who are not all blonde hair, blue eyes and dressed in khaki’s and a tie...
If you watch Duck Commander (another show they produce) Willie lives in a different house.
I love it!
Compared with the 99.9% of trash on T.V. right now. I think Duck Dynasty is fun entertainment. And I barely ever watch T.V. anymore. Love how Phil always prays and gives thanks to the LORD at the end of every episode. And they throw in a bit of a moral to the stories as well.
Bonus: There isn't a metrosexual in the bunch!;)
“Yes, the left will probably use the stereotypical perception of the cast to denigrate conservatives, but who cares? “
The left, which almost exclusively uses the Saul Alinsky dishonest tactics in debate, will hold us to everything we hold dear, every word we speak, every punctuation mark... and every stupid reality show we find interesting.
We cannot continue to give our, and our country’s, enemies more cannon fodder to use against us.
Right or wrong, perception and misinformation is driving elections and we have to start winning in those arenas.
The GOP is tripping all over itself trying to bring blacks and Hispanics into the fold by changing the GOPs core beliefs and pandering. WRONG! We must fight the blatant lies the left stereotypes us with and ATTRACT those outside the right with SUCCESS and the Promise of SUCCESS if you follow our values.
I just don’t get it. I have watched it a couple of times and thought it was boring. It’s no different than hanging out with my in-laws here in Alabama.
Honestly, I don’t care what progressives think of conservatives because I know the truth, and so does the rest of the country. That is WHY DD is so popular. The progressives will denigrate any conservative and will use Alinsky’s ridicule to try to further their agenda no matter what the truth is.
The progressives hate us. Period. Whether we are well dressed or unshaven. And I don’t care. My goal is to get the truth out there.
You go, Duck Dynasty.
I heard in an interview that the producers simply say "Hey, why don't you guys go do XXX?", and then film Willie and crew going about doing what ever idea was put forward. Also, Clint Boyer, said in a radio interview in KC that the Robinsons behaved off screen the same way they did on screen when he was down filming the camouflaged limo episode.
Family values is all I want in a show.
Ha, as if your Pickers, Restoration and Pawn Stars aren't scripted. Sure, someone brings in George Washington's wig and they want $200. Rick says it is but a Halloween costume but calls in his good buddy from the Historical Society who says it's museum worthy and places a $30k price on it. Rick swears to the camera he really wants and offers the guy $1,500 because there's a small turn around on genuine Washington wigs. Same story every week.
To close to home huh? LOL! Reminds me a lot of when I was working and some of the things that went on with my work buddies.
I've never seen the show, but your comments confirm exactly what I thought it might be.
Liberals hate this show. Good reason to watch it.
