I am not so sure about that.
If you want to be entertaining on mass media tv, you have to be stupid. That is what the people want.
Top rated comedies are currently “big bang theory” where physics phd’s at Cal tech act even more stupidly than most 19 year old frat boys on spring break.
The other top rated comedy is “two broke girls” which is self explanatory in the level of stupidity.
Face it. Stupid is funny and entertaining.
If that is what the people want, that is what the media will give to them.
