The legend has returned and its splash is sure to reverberate from Main Street all the way to Juneau Avenue in Milwaukee. The new generation of American V-Twin cruisers made its grand debut in front of a crowd of thousands of enthusiasts and dignitaries at the Sturgis Motorcycle Hall of Fame Saturday night.......
For those who worried Polaris would severely alter the legend, fear not: the new 2014 Indians harken back to a bygone era of motorcycling.

Let me know how you like them. I’m still on Metzs.
Rode to a gun show today. An older Englishman appeared as I parked, to inform me that my bike is English (thanks). Then his wife and their friend appeared, cornered me and regaled me with tales of gory bike accidents they’d seen and how inattentive car drivers are. (thanks again, ‘scuse me now).
*sigh*
Nice logo, but someone needs to edit out that unnecessary apostrophe. Makes us Tea Party folks look like illiterates.
Just something that I have observed. What was once the outside, the edge, is now THE mainstream.
I just find it odd, that these nerdy guys, spend $20K plus on a Harley, grow themselves a goatee and make this transformation into a wannabe 1%er pseudo-badass.
As a dyed in the wool Kawaski guy ('86 Ninja 1000R to the '13 ZX-10R) where speed is everything. 170 to 190 MPH. Turn on a dime, stop on a dime. Where triple-digit uni-cycling is a frequent experience (pull in the clutch at 110 mph to change gears and have the front wheel hit the ground because the bike produces so much power that it picks up the front wheel around 90 mph and you don't even notice it happening until you pull in the clutch to shift). Scraping the pegs on twisty roads, and going through two rear tires a season. Now that's riding....
I just find most of the cult of Harley crowd, off putting posers.
LOL! That old englishman must get around because I have encountered him several times.....AND his frackin wife!
Does a Honda handle as well as a Ducati?
I know,I know, it is beautiful. As beautiful as a Ducati?
IMHO, my favorite Ducati ever:
Most striking Ducati ever:
Most beautiful motorcycle ever:
My former Ducati :-(

Can you imagine the sweep of the standing orders, and the crazy situations those guys had to face without a faint prayer of a backup!
But imagine the freedom of the roads on a bike in those days, no cameras, no trackers, no nothing. Just you, the machine, the road, and the job.
See my #65

I think the standing orders were to keep the peace. Tomas Hererra knew every inch of the East Mountains. When a B-50 (modified B-29) went down in the Sandias with nukes aboard in the 50’s, he was the only guy who could find it.
Although they have radio, there’s still one man NMSP posts that cover 1000 square miles.
I know people that buy bikes and they pretty much leave them in the garage. Maybe they will take them out once or twice a year. Maybe put them on a trailer to take to a bike week somewhere and pretend to be riders. If that is the type of person you are talking about then I hear ya. They do tend to ride Harleys.
I'm not much of a Harley fan, but I look at bikes like I look at guns. It might be a piece of crap Chinese AK that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside, but if someone is giving it away I'm taking it. Sure Harleys have some piss poor design flaws, and sure they make as much money selling clothing as bikes and sure there are a lot of yuppies that want to play dress up as a biker that gravitate to the brand. It's still an American bike that has a wide following of people that any sane person would have to call legit riders. Some of my best friends are legit bikers that will only ride Harleys. That is what their dads rode, and that is what their granddads rode. (with remarkably the same engine design, but I digress)
Victory and Indians are not Harleys however. They are legit American motorcycle companies with some really decent technology but on the plus side they won't have poser appeal. Sure they are still cruisers (albeit fairly agile cruisers) and won't appeal to some speed demons but variety is the spice of life.
The new Indian Chief starts at 18k.

The "Panther" was a limited production run based on a Moto Guzzi EV1100.
I was just in Spearfish
Rooms scarce
Oil boom though 70 miles away closest rig is sucking up rooms for 6 months at a time
Must be similar in Sturgis too
I bet Mrs McGee much like Mrs War really wants you in a motorcycle..lol
Beautiful machines....I like the vintage.....my uncle rode dressed Indians in fifties
I had my day....cafe bikes...surgeries and aftereffects to prove
Kenny Roberts truly was KING
Those transverse heads gave it away as a Moto Guzzi right away. Very cool bike.
My high school buddy has owned the KOA Spearfish for years now.....must be a goldmine for him.
It looks good.
