Not sure why you care about that kinda stuff.

Just something that I have observed. What was once the outside, the edge, is now THE mainstream.

I just find it odd, that these nerdy guys, spend $20K plus on a Harley, grow themselves a goatee and make this transformation into a wannabe 1%er pseudo-badass.

As a dyed in the wool Kawaski guy ('86 Ninja 1000R to the '13 ZX-10R) where speed is everything. 170 to 190 MPH. Turn on a dime, stop on a dime. Where triple-digit uni-cycling is a frequent experience (pull in the clutch at 110 mph to change gears and have the front wheel hit the ground because the bike produces so much power that it picks up the front wheel around 90 mph and you don't even notice it happening until you pull in the clutch to shift). Scraping the pegs on twisty roads, and going through two rear tires a season. Now that's riding....

I just find most of the cult of Harley crowd, off putting posers.

Don't much care if riders are wearing bright colored textiles or black leather. I don't care if they are covered in ink or just opened a new Dental practice...or both. As long as they ride and they are into riding then it's cool with me.

I know people that buy bikes and they pretty much leave them in the garage. Maybe they will take them out once or twice a year. Maybe put them on a trailer to take to a bike week somewhere and pretend to be riders. If that is the type of person you are talking about then I hear ya. They do tend to ride Harleys.

I'm not much of a Harley fan, but I look at bikes like I look at guns. It might be a piece of crap Chinese AK that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside, but if someone is giving it away I'm taking it. Sure Harleys have some piss poor design flaws, and sure they make as much money selling clothing as bikes and sure there are a lot of yuppies that want to play dress up as a biker that gravitate to the brand. It's still an American bike that has a wide following of people that any sane person would have to call legit riders. Some of my best friends are legit bikers that will only ride Harleys. That is what their dads rode, and that is what their granddads rode. (with remarkably the same engine design, but I digress)

Victory and Indians are not Harleys however. They are legit American motorcycle companies with some really decent technology but on the plus side they won't have poser appeal. Sure they are still cruisers (albeit fairly agile cruisers) and won't appeal to some speed demons but variety is the spice of life.
