~Welcome To Sunday At Amy's Place~

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6,7

Love hearing him sing Sweet, Sweet Spirit! Best singing voice ever. I saw him in concert twice. He performed in Freedom Hall, Johnson City, but stayed at a hotel here in Bristol. Its about 20 miles from Johnson City to Bristol. What a great performance he put on. He came here twice that year, the same year he died. When I heard he had died, I just plain couldn’t believe it. I thought my friend was pulling a joke on me.....then when I found out, I cried ad cried. (off and on for several days).

A Life That Shined

September 15, 2013

According to the International Basketball Federation, basketball is the world’s second-most popular sport, with an estimated 450 million followers in countries around the globe. In the US, the annual NCAA tournament in March often brings mention of legendary coach John Wooden. During his 27 years at UCLA, Wooden’s teams won an unprecedented 10 National Championship titles. Yet, today, John Wooden, who died in 2010, is remembered not just for what he accomplished but for the person he was.

Wooden lived out his Christian faith and his genuine concern for others in an environment often obsessed with winning. In his autobiography, They Call Me Coach, he wrote, “I always tried to make it clear that basketball is not the ultimate. It is of small importance in comparison to the total life we live. There is only one kind of life that truly wins, and that is the one that places faith in the hands of the Savior. Until that is done, we are on an aimless course that runs in circles and goes nowhere.”

John Wooden honored God in all he did, and his example challenges us to do the same. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).

Show me the way, Lord, let my light shine
As an example of good to mankind;
Help them to see the patterns of Thee,
Shining in beauty, lived out in me. —Neuer
Let your light shine—whether you’re a candle in a corner or a lighthouse on a hill.

Read: Matthew 5:3-16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. —Matthew 5:16

Your opening is so beautiful and reassuring, Meg. We all seem to be experiencing troubling times right now, and His Word will always lift us up.

Hi Yorkie!
((((HUGS))))

We had a nice service today, except that it rained, which kept the less stalwart of the bikers home. So it was a small group, but very attentive.

The, right in the middle of Brother Jerry’s reading of the Gospel, The guitar player noticed a HUGE water bubble (about a YARD in diameter) forming in the overhead tarp DIRECTLY OVER OUR INSTRUMENTS! We are talking about my Electric Bass, John’s Gretsch Electric Guitar, and My ENTIRE PA system. John and I discreetly walked up to the stage, and as quietly and as unobtrusively as possible, began to disconnect all the wires and pack up all the equipment without shutting off the preacher (LOL!). Just as the last cable was safely stowed away the tarp collapsed in a waterfall all over the portion of the stage where our equipment had BEEN.

“Hallelujah!” said the preacher, “We jess had a BAPTISM!”

Thank GOD John noticed the Bubble! Eek!
