Team Jay Z is going to bat for beleaguered Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.
As the drama surrounding the ailing $275 million third basemans return to the lineup and a looming Major League Baseball suspension play out, associates of the entertainment mogul-turned-sports agent have been helping Rodriguez behind the scenes.
Last week, Jordan Siev, a lawyer for Jay Zs superstar wife, Beyoncé, represented A-Rod in a telephone conference with Yankee brass.
On the call, Bomber General Manager Brian Cashman, President Randy Levine and Tampa-based trainer Tim Lentych discussed with Siev the time frame for A-Rods return to the team.

Ha-their combined IQ’s squared wouldn’t make a double digit.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, I would love to see A-Roid hit the bricks and get gone. He’s been nothing but a headache for the Yankees since his arrival!
But he’s so great in the playoffs. /s
Yep! 0 for ever!
Character matters just like MLK said so to speak. When A-Rod started with the droids, divorced his wife and family, messed around with TrashDonna and the other playthings his career and personal life went south. Now his name is mud but a highly paid one at that. I see a Tiger Woods parallel to A-Rod but golf can be an old mans game but not so for baseball.
Best buddys with Obama!
Ditto. His arrival on the scene ushered in the end of a Yankee era of class - Williams, O’Neill, Martinez, Broscius, Posada, Jeter, Pettite, Rivera. The emphasis then was on home-grown talent with a few steady-performer signings (sans ego) thrown in to create teams that were a joy to watch.
The signing of ARod was a display of gaudiness that upset the clubhouse apple cart, re-visited the big-money image of “the best team money can buy” that fans resent, and suggested a level of desperation in the face of a certain franchise to the North that was beginning to amass a potent team of their own.
I’m just glad to see that the players who bust their butts to make the bigs and to stay their through honest efforts and talent are finally getting the respect they deserve from the players union.
Cheaters like A-Roid and Ryan Fraud should be banned from the game, their “records” stripped from all official stats, their post-season performance awards rescinded and permanently banned from Hall of Fame eligiblity (that includes Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, Palmeiro, Clemons, Giambi and anyone else who chemically enhanced their performance).
Does the Z in Jay Z stand for Zimmerman?
Didin’t Jay Z and the wife get paid $2m to perform by Gadaffi’s son one New Year’s Eve?
My prediction: Rodriguez will never play another inning of major league baseball. His “injuries” are chronic and can’t be rehabbed. He’s stretching out his convalescence in order to keep his paycheck rolling in.
I think Rodriguez deserves a lifetime ban for continuing to use PEDs after being caught the first time.
On the other hand I’d hate for the Yankees to get a >$100,000,000 get-out-of-contract-free card.
Difficult decision.
By taking banned drugs multiple times the Yankee’s could argue he violated the terms of his contract ... that the contract is void.
