What if George Zimmerman had approached his “neighborhood watch mission” carrying Christ’s parable of the Good Samaritan in his heart?
Did Zimmerman’s concept of “who is my neighbor?” correspond to Christ’s?
What if foremost in Zimmerman’s mind had been Christ’s message of “blessed are” the meek, the peacemakers, the merciful?
What if he had had the courage and wisdom to remember the Bible’s many admonitions to “fear not” and cheerfully engage Trayvon in conversation, giving the young man a chance to show his attitude without being put on the defensive?
While the jury’s outcome may be in line with current legal constraints, moral justice has certainly not been served, and we are all now less secure in our personal liberties. Zimmerman’s brand of vigilantism befriends a police state, rather than civilized “rule of law.”
My heart aches for the family and friends of Trayvon, and trembles that so many of my countrymen want their versions of Christianity in our laws and schools, yet have no concern about Zimmerman’s handling of this incident in such an un-Christian manner, and the law that has “rewarded” him for that.

While we’re being more “Christ-like” Laura, how about cutting George a break as well? Like going after the BPs who put a bounty on GZs head? Or let him have a fair trial without the media slanting everything? Or go ahead and release the bad stuff in St. Skittles background so that we can form a more informed opinion?

Hard to do when the first thing Trayvon does is cold cock you in the nose then jump on top of you to "ground and pound" you. The blood pouring down the back of your throat tends to inhibit clear speech. Laura, you're a moron!

Maybe he would protest the police's lack of interest in prosecuting a guy that beat a homeless black man?
Maybe he would look in on neighbors who had been terrorized by home invaders?
Maybe he would volunteer to spend time watching out for his neighbors?
