(Stupid Vanity) Help with
7/16/2013 | Vanity

Posted on 07/16/2013 8:34:00 PM PDT by Smokeyblue

Think of the old fashioned, round "coal bed warmers" but when opened the top could be rotated close to 360 degrees instead of 180 degrees.

What type of hinge would work or links to any current product examples would be appreciated. The round top fits the round bottom but can be opened close to all the way.

It's the round part that is throwing me and the placement of the hinge.

Sorry for such a stupid question. Appreciate the help in advance.

I don’t know, but I just saved a lot of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

I think the hinge was attached to the handle and to the cover.

Is that your question - what sort of hinge was used ?

Why would you want to rotate the top ?

"I think the hinge was attached to the handle and to the cover."

Oh. I never thought about the handle having the hinge. That is interesting but... Think of two tennis rackets next to each other. You want to rotate one or the other or both so that they lay on top of each other. Not sure if that helps.

Use two hinges.

Also I prefer my bed warmers to be blonde.

If I threw that in the dishwasher it would close. I want both top and bottom to be open.

The small top bent back wouldn’t work. They top and bottom need to be equal. You can’t tell the top from the bottom.

They do have “flag hinges” that are dual but it is the round part (attached) and the depth of the “coal warmer.”

Maybe, I’m trying to defy the laws of physics. LOL

Nowadays, most folks just use a hot water bottle to keep their feet warm.

But beware: if they are too hot, they can cause severe burns, which is why hospitals have temperature controlled wet heating pads.

the “bed warmer” was placed in the bed or passed over the sheets so that the sheets were not ice cold when you got into bed. It was not left in the bed.

as for hinges: most of them seem to have a simple single hinge...

You can buy some on ebay.

Still unclear what you mean, but do a search for a “double action hinge” and also a “double hinge”. Maybe one of these will work for you.

Me too. But the bed warmer with the handle would probably be smarter...

Do you want this to warm your bed?
