After Elisabeth Hasselbeck's exit last week and Joy Behar set to depart next month, Jenny McCarthy has officially been named the newest co-host on ABC's "The View." The actress/comedian/author/Autism activist has made 17 previous appearances on the show, including eight as a guest co-host.
Jenny brings us intelligence as well as warmth and humor, Walters said in a statement. She can be serious and outrageous. She has connected with our audience and offers a fresh point of view. Jenny will be a great addition to the show as we usher in an exciting new chapter for The View.
Im beyond thrilled I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off, McCarthy added in a statement.
The 40-year-old former Playboy Playmate also thanked VH1 for allowing her to take the job, as she was under contract for her new late-night talk show, "The Jenny McCarthy Show," which has been fledgling in the ratings.

Not a question of which one is purtier. They are a different type. One you take home from the party. The other one you take home to mom & dad.
Never mistake one for the other.
Whatever, they have accomplished adding another semi-intelligent voice to the mix. This will make them happy after finally pushing out the only intelligent, rational voice that was on the show.
A forty something former Playboy centerfold and a nitwit who by spreading idiocy about vaccinations probably killed and crippled thousands of kids. Sure a real intellectual.
Im still in love with Jenny,,, even after her mistake with Jim...
Laz...?
They ought to rename it “The View From the Radical Left”.
I have glasses. Looks fine to me. Lunatic? Don’t know. She doesn’t talk to me.
Jenny McCarthy: “We believe what helped Evan recover was starting a gluten-free, casein-free diet, vitamin supplementation, detox of metals, and anti-fungals for yeast overgrowth that plagued his intestines. Once Evan’s neurological function was recovered through these medical treatments, speech therapy and applied behavior analysis helped him quickly learn the skills he could not learn while he was frozen in autism. After we implemented these therapies for one year, the state re-evaluated Evan for further services. They spent five minutes with Evan and said, “What happened? We’ve never seen a recovery like this.”
On May 26, Jenny McCarthy, Playboy model and president of Generation Rescue, was the keynote speaker at the AutismOne conference a role she has filled for the past five years. During her address, she found it necessary to state the following about moms who have children with autism but reject her own methods that supposedly helped her child “recover.”
“They fall into this victim role and they like it. It’s almost as if they didn’t get attention in their lives ... and now this incredible door opens where all of these people come over and say, ‘Suzy, oh, Suzy, I’m so sorry, is there anything I can do for you?’ There’s all this attention. And they’re looooving it. They’re loving having people feel sorry for them. They get extra, you know, home-cooked meals from their neighbors. Ya know, oh ... So to me, I can’t stand that. Like when people do that I’m like shut the [expletive] up and get away from me. I don’t want your sympathy. I’m over here. On this train. This warrior train.”
New Report Says: Jenny McCarthy’s Son May Not Have Had Autism After All
Fri, February 26, 2010
After years of speaking out about her sons autism and against childhood immunizations Jenny McCarthy is reversing her position.
After years of speaking publicly about her belief that MMR shots (immunization for measles, mumps, and rubella) caused her son to suffer from autism, Jenny McCarthy now faces the reality that her 7-year-old son Evan who no longer shows any signs of autism may likely have lived with completely different illness.
A new article in Time magazine which Jenny was interviewed for suggests Evan suffers from Landau-Kleffner syndrome, a rare childhood neurological disorder that can also result in speech impairment and possible long-term neurological damage.
And she is also reversing her initial position that the MMR shots caused Evans autism. Jenny now says she wants vaccinations better researched rather than getting rid of them altogether, as she previously promoted. And though her son may never have had autism, Jenny insists, Ill continue to be the voice of the disorder.

Judge Judy. Now SHE is someone I'd like to see on The View. She'd probably tear everyone there to pieces. Then maybe I'd start watching the show myself. (lol)
Jenny McCarthy: Jim Carrey Turned His Back on My Autistic Son
Celebrity News June 5, 2012.
Jenny McCarthy couldn’t help but get emotional during her Monday Howard Stern interview when the host asked after her ex, Jim Carrey.
McCarthy, who dated the 50-year-old comedian for more than five years, says Carrey — who has spoken publicly before about his lifelong struggle with depression — has completely turned his back on McCarthy’s autistic son Evan, 10, following their 2010 split.
“I’ve tried to ask [Jim] numerous times [to see Evan], because my son still asks,” the Love in the Wild host, 39, told Stern, adding that Evan tells her he misses Carrey “almost weekly.”
McCarthy revealed that, while she doesn’t feel like she can communicate with Carrey herself, she’s gone through “channels” in an attempt to convince the actor to talk to her son.
“I haven’t [reached out directly] . . . I think that sometimes people need to take a real break from each other,” she explained. “But I still love him. I think you can love people from a distance and respect him. But as a mother, you just hope when you have a relationship with someone, it has nothing to do with the child when you break up.”
Added the former Playboy model (who also revealed she lets Evan watch her ex’s films), “I tell [Evan] that someday you’ll cross paths, meet again. . . [but] it’s hard. He’s been in therapy. It’s a process, he’s working on it.”
Even though she hates the impact her breakup has had on her child, McCarthy says she still doesn’t regret her and Carrey’s decision to part ways.
“Jim’s a dark guy,” Stern remarked during their discussion.
“As you get older, Howard, you kind of get to see things more clearly,” McCarthy explained about moving on from her ex-love. “Hopefully you get happier [over time], and I am so much happier.”
Contributing to McCarthy’s happiness? Her new relationship with Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher.
Her rep confirmed to E! News recently that the model and NFL player are indeed a couple. McCarthy and Urlacher, who have been dating quietly since April, made their public debut together during a date night last month at Giuliana and Bill Rancic’s Chicago eatery, RPM Italian.
Later that week, McCarthy played coy when asked about her new man at an autism charity event.
“I can confirm that yes it’s true, we are dating,” she told reporters on the red carpet. “Go Bears, that’s all I can say!”
That seems to support the idea that autism is being over-diagnosed.
She is a slut and overpaid idiot...
Jenny McCarthy, a fierce advocate for autism awareness, is no longer with longtime love Jim Carrey. She is, however, dating Donnie Wahlberg. Donnies more famous brother, Mark Wahlberg, has yet to comment on his brothers new fling.
Wahlberg, 43, appeared on Jennys new show, The Jenny McCarthy Show in March of this year. It was here that observant fans caught their first glimpse of the lovestruck couple, as they flirted for the first (but definitely not last) time:
“Do you talk dirty when you’re having sex?” the comedienne and talk show host asked.
I do, he admitted.
“You do? But you know, some guys do it wrong.”
“Yeah, but I don’t do it wrong.
After that playful exchange, the pair continued their flirting on Twitter, the popular social networking site. It was Jenny that made the first move, tweeting the former New Kids on The Block member:
“Thank you for being on the show. Looking forward to everyone watching us get to first base on TV.”
To each his own.
I prefer sane brunettes.
Yeah, but that is not a difficult goal to achieve.
Jenny doesn’t do anything for me.
Hasselbeck is considerably better looking, but she isn’t my type either.
Andrea Tantaros beats the snot out of both of them combined and squared.
Hassel beck is better looking and is considerably less dolled up in comparison.
Meh.
Maybe for you, not for me.
