What if Barbie looked like a real woman?

How many girls dream of looking like Barbie when they grow up only to realize its physically impossible?
Estimates of what a woman would look like if she had Barbies measurements rack up so to speak at about 39-20-33″. She would be 6 to 7 feet tall and only weigh about 100 to 108 pounds.
Photographer and artist Nickolay Lamm aimed to answer this question recently by creating 3D images of a Barbie doll with a real-life. Lamm used CDC measurements for the average American 19-year-old female in creating his doll she has a 33.6-inch waist and weighs 150 pounds.
Image: Barbie with no makeup
I adored Barbie as much as the next middle class white kid, but after gazing at Lamms doll for a minute, it was the archetype that looked strange.
These images exemplify the bizarre and fictitious ideals girls and boys grow up with. Im not even sure what Mattels motivation is in keeping Barbies crazy measurements wouldnt a more realistic version sell just as well? Were not even getting into the cultural and racial diversity Barbie lacks.

But GI Joe took me out. Was that before or after the abolition of "don't ask, don't tell, don't even want to know"?

What you’ve hit on is the reality that liberals are damaged goods. They suffer all sorts of psychological traumas and then project those on the society as a whole. We joke that liberalism is a mental disorder, but it is much closer to the truth than people realize.

Ohmygosh. I agree that movie stars and Barbie type symbols should not emulate a freakish image of what a girl should look like. But a 33+in waist and 150 pounds at age 19? That's huge and a recipe for weight problems forever.
I say that as someone who was slightly less than that at age 19, and weight is something I have to be very careful about because of that early excess.

No that girl is real. The “grays” eyes me took are a his ex via contact lenses that have color that extends past the natural iris; the rest is done w/carefully applied makeup.
I believe the young woman is anorexic, but has had implants. I think the hair is natural augmented w/extensions. She favors the Barbie look, but their is another one (possibly two) out there who “do” the Japanese “anime” look (some eye look—hair color & wardrobe different). All have FB/twitters and all take the look straight to the bank.

That’s a real Barbie, for that particular one they did a tie in with a tasty cookie treat product. For some reason some people found the specific combination of doll/cookie they chose objectionable. Can you imagine?

"I've never seen any doll or cartoon character that was a perfectly scaled human, yet Barbie drives the Left nuts." That's because she looks better than any unshaven, Birkenstock-wearing, devoid-of-makeup leftwing female.

My daughter hated Barbie. But then, I was never interested in dolls either. Much too active, each of us in our own ways. One step-granddaughter liked dolls, the other did not. And so it goes.
Anyway, if they wanted to make realistic dolls, they should look overweight.

I KNOW Ken is gay. I went to a big Christmas party of theatre people in SanFran where a lot of gay guys were in attendance. We brought wrapped gifts and put them into a big grab bag.
I pulled out a nicely wrapped box: a Ken doll in a ballet tutu. Really, it was very funny.

they may not come out and say it, but many really do long for the Barbie... perhaps it has more to do with fantasy...

yes--she would be more attractive to someone who finds that attractive... i would suppose that a man who marries a freakishly undernourished waif might not find an added 45 lbs all that appealing...
in any case--Barbie is not without curves, and has quite the bust line... btw--i know her measurements are not of "real life" proportions...
