Despite the obstacles to liberty which we face today, I choose happiness and joy.
Of these three - life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness - the pursuit of happiness is the one which can never be stolen from me.
I choose to hold tightly to life and liberty, all the while being strengthened by the pursuit of happiness.
This pursuit, no matter the opposition, is available directly from God and within myself, and can never be taken from me without my consent.
4th of July Gratitude ping!
:-)
I am grateful for my health and living in such a wonderful country, even with all the turmoil. I read the Declaration of Independence today on Hillsdale College’s website.
I never take anything for granted anymore.
When you hear those booms, use your imagination and envision gun and cannon fire in the farms and villages of the 18th century east coast and remember that liberty was won through violence, not a policy of peace. When you hear a boom, think, “People are dying.” Grow a back bone and be grateful.
I agree!
There’s nothing like the threat of loss to make me appreciate what I’ve got!
I’m sitting on the porch, watching and listening to the birds sing and fly all around, with one little dog asleep in my lap and the other on chipmunk and squirrel patrol.
Thanks be to God for moments like this.

I’m thankful for most everything we have except the POS we have as POTUS.
I was going to fly a USA flag today but can’t find one with (58-59-60 ?) stars.

Happy 4th, pax_et_bonum! I still don’t have my shrimp tacos, but I could if I wanted to make the effort, so it’s close enough ;-).
Lol!
My husband put up a flag yesterday, in view of most of our town.
Even with the threats we face, I wouldn’t choose another time or place to live my life.
Our enemies underestimate the strength which God’s gift of liberty gives.
Happy 4th!
No shrimp tacos???
Nooooooo!!!
If it makes you feel any better, the restaurant here with the greatest buffalo steaks closed!!!!! Tragic, truly!
But I choose to allow it to take only a tiny, temporary chip out of my pursuit of happiness!
;-)
We’ve had visitors and so I’ve had time enough only to peek in here to check on Egypt - it’s good to be back on the 4th!
Happy 4th of July and Best Wishes for Shrimp Tacos!
4th of July Gratitude BUMP!
;-)
Howdy Pax!
Hi there, Lady!
Happy Gratitude-filled 4th back atcha!
I see you brought humble along!
:-)
It is the journey not the destination. That pursuit is negatively affected by an oppressive government.
Look where this phrase stands, right next to Life and Liberty. It's not a privilege.
Howdy, humble!
Your tagline is.... Creepy!
:-)
No, dear. He came on his own from your ping. Thanks for that ping, BTW.
It’s nice to visit with my friends since Bryan is in the garage installing a new radiator hose on his car, and thank God the door is closed, so I can’t hear the language emanating from the grease pit.
You are right.
However, my point is that the pursuit of happiness, with God’s help, is unlimited and strengthening.
Even when life and liberty are infringed upon, a person can be strengthened for the struggle to regain those rights, with the aid of prayer, by continuing to pursue happiness within the confines of his circumstances.
Bryan is simply enjoying freedom of speech!
LOL! I wouldn’t know. I’m not listening to him.
He really is a great auto mechanic. He has always kept our cars in good repair.
I’m just happy that the radiator hose didn’t disintegrate on the way to, or the way back from, the shoot.
LOL! Bryan just walked back into the house and said that very thing! We were lucky that the hose blew
right outside our house instead of some much less fortuitous place like Texas or worse, Arkansas!
Happiness and joy are cool, and I’d be a lot happier and more joyful if fireworks weren’t illegal in this state.
Sigh...
