Coffee hot? Say it ain’t so!
This scam has already been tried.
I remember going thru a drive-thru for a cup of coffee shortly after the first ridiculous hot coffee suit.
The cup had “HOT” written on it in 2 inch red letters all around the rim. And it came with a four-page brochure instructing the user on the proper handling of a hot cup of coffee.
And if the coffee wasn’t hot enough, he could sue for that instead.
Tried back in the 90’s by an 80-something year old woman who spilled coffee on herself ... she got some $2 million from the jury. If I remember public opinion was on McDonald’s side however the jury saw it different.
and she one millions
won, sorry just woke up
I think if it was so hot that it could actually scald his skin, not a single person would’ve picked it up.
This isn’t about common sense, it’s about lawsuit lottery.
So? The coffee is hot. Duh.
I got married 30 years ago and I am not suing the minister. Get over it, buddy.
Not this again.. We’ve already had the million dollar lawsuit against McDonald’s for coffee spills and burns. Can we recycle old lawsuits such as this???
The death of common sense. The USA has become a moron’s paradise.
After the last suit, McDonalds lowered the brewing temperature 10-20 degrees. Their coffee is the same temp as everyone elses ...the difference seems to be they have a lot of money.
After learning all of the specifics in the first coffee lawsuit, I actually agree with the lady who sued. McDonalds’ SOP was to keep the coffee at a minimum of 180 degrees to keep from having to dump old coffee during slow times. The company claimed it saved them around a million dollars a day to keep it at this temp. The lady had third degree burns and had to have skin grafts. The jurors declared that $1.89 million was just under two day’s worth of savings from McDonalds’ 180 degree temperature SOP. The SOP has since been revised. I don’t know how to post pics, but here’s a link to one pic. WARNING: The image is extremely graphic and disturbing!
Lol. Time to retain attorney Jackie Chiles!
And here is my apology for the link being ridiculously long! Sorry!
