I try to ignore the stupidity that seems to rush in waves from our, so-called, government, but the following email from my daughter has really set me off. Yesterday, she told me that my son-in-law, (along with every other soldier and Marine in Afghanistan), was working in 125 degree heat. Now this morning I get this report:
"Just got an email from_____. He said they just received communications saying in an effort to cut costs, they want them to turn their thermostats in their living areas up to 77 when they are there and 81 when they aren't. Are you kidding me?! It's 125 degrees there! It's a crappy place! The one luxury they have and enjoy is air-conditioning!
Sorry. It makes me so angry how the guys doing their jobs are being treated in an effort to "save money." Considering all the cuts that can be made elsewhere.
I love you, Daddy. We're just going to have to keep praying these guys home."
Well, today was absolutely lovely...can’t speak for the whole day as I slept until about 5 pm but at 6 pm it was 86 and a lovely breeze was blowing. Hard to believe this is Texas in June. Right now it is 66 at 5:30 am. Today will only be a high of 86 and low of 66 with humidity at 72%. Those kind of low temps are unheard of here...wonder what’s going on? Humidity is still high though and I felt it as I still sweated like the proverbial pig.
Living in Texas most of my life, I am an indoors, all the time person...I cannot bear it and spend minimal time outdoors. Winters are okay here...it can still get really cold but no snow to speak of and if it ices everything just shuts down. Texans don’t do well with ice. lol And I have ended up in my share of snowbanks trying to drive in snow in MI...adventures for sure.
You’d fit right in here with your conservative mentality, so come on down!!
Weather’s a little wacky here, too. Upper 80’s to low 90’s, humid and rain, rain, rain. Can’t keep up with the yard, can’t recall a day in the past several months when rain wasn’t a good possibility. Quite a few more than usual with clouds and rain all day.
Some had the same policy in the early 90s. I once addressed a Navy Captain Chaplain about it and his response was that, his “faith was so strong that he didn’t have to mention His name.”
I knew then that the Chaplain Corps was promoting anything antichristian than to teach His Word.
Well stated, MasterGuns.
The main problem with AC units ‘freezing’ over is when the Freon charge is low. That, coupled with high humidity. If it dry and arid, I wouldn’t suspect they are freezing over so much as the temperature differential cooling of the units just can’t handled it in 125 degree heat.
I got a message from a friend who is stationed in Italy. She said they were told that due to sequester they will not receive any packages until the end of August.
I guess with holding mail is legal now huh?
