Ex-Patriot Aaron Hernandez Officially Charged with Murder

Aaron Hernandez, the former star New England Patriot tight end who has been at the center of a police investigation since a body was found near his Massachusetts home, was charged Wednesday with the murder of a semi-professional football player.

Hernandez, who reportedly pleaded not guilty to six charges that included murder and other weapons charges, did not react inside the Attleboro District courtroom, which was filled with journalists, victim family members and court officers.

I am glad the Patriots released him.

Best thing for the team and the organization. They take a huge salary cap hit, but they will treat it like a career ending injury and be done with it and move ahead.

I am a Patriots fan, and while I very much appreciated Hernandez as a talented athlete, I didn't like his attitude from the beginning. He was a trash-talking, show-boating punk, and I detest that in athletics. Not to say other players don't do it (they do) but there was something about the player that irritated me when he did it. This picture is an example:

It was a nice, heads-up play and good athletic move, but as he danced down the sideline just ahead of the defensive player, he was showboating and trash talking before he even got to the endzone. Now, it is a cool picture and a good play, but...I hate this stuff.

The defensive player took exception, and while I know defensive backs have to have a thicker skin, I understood the response completely. To be honest, I understood completely why the Patriots signed Gronkowski the way they did, I did not understand the Hernandez signing. Gronk will be fine, but Hernandez has shown himself to be injury prone (in a way different from Gronkowski...a broken bone or a nasty ankle bent sideways is obvious)

I know Hernandez is not proven guilty, yet. But I am glad to see the Patriots cut ties with him as speedily as they did once he was formally charged.

I understand your point, but I don’t have an issue with the Patriots releasing him. Hernandez is free to pursue a career with any other team that wants him, apparently no strings attached.

He can still practice his livelihood, that is, if any team takes him up on it.

I am only addressing the earlier statement about automatically dismissing someone who is arrested.

When we had someone arrested, we initiated an administrative investigation and took action if we found anything.

You have to reorient your thinking. There was a time when all individuals were considered equal in the eyes of the law. Then, murder was murder. That was then. Now we live in the world of political correctness, the world of obama worship, the world of the feminized male, the world ruled by homosexuals and perverts. The more perverse, the higher the status. In the now world, the lives of individuals have different values. To illustrate: The life of a politician or judge; extremely [intheir opinion] valuable. The life of a State Official, including police, very vaulable. The life of an entainer,including athlets, valuable. The life of what is considered to be a "normal " individual, not so valuable. The life of a unborn child, worthless.

On November 4, 2008, the above process begin to excelerate., on November 6, 2012, the afterburners to this process were lit. Between 2012 and 2014 in the Year of Our Lord, rocket engines were added to the process and the excelleration will be fanastic..until we self destruct.

Not really, just doing the right thing. There's no need for them to take on the burden of supporting this guy in the press for the next year or two until he finally goes to trial.

As a side note, I read that this guy had a 40 million dollar contract.........40 or 4, it really doesn't matter, this guy was making more than I did in my entire working life. What a waste........

No it wouldn't, this has been in the news for a few days now........their "zero tolerance" policy was implemented.
