Yep. He should’ve sat the last one out, recovered fully from his back surgery, worked on the campaign trail with the nominee, continue tv interviews and focus on Texas economy, etc. Then he would’ve been in prime shape for 2016.

Far too few are being executed. In the time frame that covers these 500 executions, 50,000 criminal homicides were recorded in TX.

Death penalty opponents are right to say that the death penalty doesn’t deter murderers, but not in the way they mean. When the odds of getting the death penalty after being convicted of some criminal homicide are perhaps 1 in 100 (given that 50,000 criminal homicides have occurred in TX during the time span it took to execute 500 murderers), it’s not surprising few criminals pay much attention to the prospect of being executed.

Good choice for #500.

Judging by her actions, this particular woman is pretty much the personification of evil.

We need to speed up the Express Lane. Maybe we could offer a self-checkout.

If there was real justice in this case of murder:

The death penalty doesn’t deter murderers.
Apparently twenty year sentences don’t deter murderers either
Even life sentences don’t deter murderers as some kill other prisoners.
It’s not about deference; it’s about social sanitation.

A 2012 poll from the Texas Tribune and the University of Texas showed only 21 percent opposed capital punishment.

I was in Canada around 1998, when Texas was fixin' to execute one of Her Majesty's frozen subjects for murders he had committed while in the Lone Star State. The establishment press was shockedandappalled. But callers in to talk shows were strangely at peace with Texas' decision, and for the most part, supportive.

Justice delayed is not justice denied for the 142 death row inmates exonerated as of Dec. 26, 2012. That number includes 12 in Texas. A rush to execution increases the likelihood of an innocent person being put to death. I am pro-life, meaning I am against abortion and against the death penalty. I have no problem with sentencing people to life without parole for heinous crimes, but most reasonable people would agree that innocent people have been executed. Fortunately, we now have the forensic technology that can more definitively determine innocence or guilt.

Call me an optimist, but I think if TX raised the odds of homicidal criminals being executed from 1 in 100 criminal homicides to 10 in 100, I think that would make prospective killers sit up and take notice. The gnashing of teeth from media personalities slamming the injustice of putting so many killers to death would remind potential offenders that Texas really does execute significant numbers of people who commit murder. The current rate of 1 in 100 is ludicrously low.

She’s supposed to have been executed an hour ago. Is the wicked witch dead yet?

Hooray!

The evil wench was righteously zotted from earthly existence at 6:37 PM as this story shows.

This murderous vermin, Kimberly McCarthy claimed she was "going to be with Jesus." Far from it, she's with Joseph Stalin, Ted Kennedy, Frances Perkins, Mohammed, Osama bin Laden, Karl Marx, Andy Griffith, Franklin Roosevelt, Hugo Chavez, Adolph Hitler, Pol Pot and a host of other despicable liberals in eternal torment. The innocent victim, Dorothy Booth, now has seen justice served by the great state of Texas. God Bless Rick Perry, Texans and all Conservatives everywhere.
