TUPPER LAKE - A fire destroyed a home at 15 East Rounds Ave. Saturday morning after a compost pile spontaneously combusted.

"Once that organic material reaches a certain temperature, it ignites," said Franklin County Fire Investigator John Bashaw. "Something like that needs to be kept away from a house."

Three species that “compost” much better than a pile:

chickens, rabbits, and worms.

Probably, though, the first two are not allowed by code.

I’ve quit using plastic utensils made in China. Cups, spoons, forks, knives, anything that touches food or my mouth. I also avoid foods for me or my dog made in China. If it were possible I wouldn’t buy anything made in China.

When I was at SUNY Syracuse, there was a woman there that had gone to Paul Smiths that everyone called Mountain Mary.
She was a big girl that was just like one of the guys. She even had to shave. No BS. She even dressed in plaid shirts, with red Paul Smith’s suspenders.

Why, oh why would you put it there?

Because this time of year, they didn't have a paper bag of wood stove ashes to sit out on the deck; had to improvise.
