Celebrity chef Paula Deen was today sacked from her job at the Food Network despite begging the public for forgiveness over her past use of racial slurs in a heavily-edited video apology.
A Food Network spokesman issued this statement today: 'Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month.' It came just hours after she released the 45-second video in which she says: 'I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong I have done. I want to learn and grow from this.
'Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way but I beg you, my children, my fans, my team, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. 'Please forgive me for the mistakes that I've made.'
The 66-year-old was due to appear on the Today show this morning to to answer questions from Matt Lauer about the racial slurs - but she pulled out just before the show started. Later that day she announced on her Twitter page that she would be releasing a video statement soon. After the initial video was released another, longer one was then posted on YouTube and was taken down soon after.

I can't bring myself to revel in her losing her job because in my opinion she's a harmless Democrat low-information magnolia pie.
It rather intrigues me that this hard-working liberal lady finds herself thrown under the Meals-on-Wheels van by her own party's puppet media in an unfortunate dumping that may just be dietic......oops, poetic justice.

The ‘Moron’ jokes were the big jokes when I was a kid.
Like “Why did the Moron throw butter up in the air?”
“To see a butterfly”.
I never heard a racial joke until I went in the Army. My parents wouldn’t have tolerated things like that.
The closest I ever came to saying something like that was when I said “Jap” and my Dad told me not to use that term but to say Japanese. My Dad had been on General MacArthur’s staff and after the Japanese surrender, and as the Occupation got under way, orders were issued not to use Jap and show respect to the Japanese people.

My bet is that she will recover from this and be even more successful and a lot wiser.
There is NO joy in this. Paula Deen may be a lefty, but she gave an honest answer, and I for one forgive her. Niggra’s was an acceptable term in the South. I know of few white people who use it now.
Or the accusation of being one, even if it's untrue.
Maybe Paula should have said her racial slurs in a Rap song~~~she would be considered an “artist” then!
