Celebrity chef Paula Deen was today sacked from her job at the Food Network despite begging the public for forgiveness over her past use of racial slurs in a heavily-edited video apology.
A Food Network spokesman issued this statement today: 'Food Network will not renew Paula Deen's contract when it expires at the end of this month.' It came just hours after she released the 45-second video in which she says: 'I want to apologize to everybody for the wrong I have done. I want to learn and grow from this.
'Inappropriate, hurtful language is totally, totally unacceptable. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way but I beg you, my children, my fans, my team, my partners, I beg for your forgiveness. 'Please forgive me for the mistakes that I've made.'
The 66-year-old was due to appear on the Today show this morning to to answer questions from Matt Lauer about the racial slurs - but she pulled out just before the show started. Later that day she announced on her Twitter page that she would be releasing a video statement soon. After the initial video was released another, longer one was then posted on YouTube and was taken down soon after.

this blows my mind......who in this forum has never told an off color or racial joke? I hate the n word and would never even use it in a joke, BUT Paula Deen grew up in a segregated era in the south and I’m sure they feel totally different than the normal person. PC run amok
She also peaded to LGBT sexual orientation crowd in the video-no dice Paula!
I’m Southern but she needed to go. She was a terrible liberal and I have no love for liberals.

I didn’t realize she was a liberal ....that being said I still think there is a double standard...people in govt. have made worse jokes and nothing happens to them (Bill Clinton said O would be serving drinks to them in a past life)

First off, “segregated era of the South”? Hate to tell you but Jim Crowe laws started in the North. I know public school history taught by the communists want you to believe racism was only in the South, but the North had its fair share. Hint: Slavery was started in the North by a black man that enslaved another black man during a time when slavery was illegal.
Second, what kind of “off color” jokes have you told yet refuse to use that dreaded n-word? Really? Can’t tell a black joke using that word but any other word is fair game?

She’s a dumb liberal but I kind of feel sorry for her. How quickly fame and fortune can vanish. I wonder what will happen to her sons’ shows.
