In the realm of sport ($1 to RINO Romney), those are two stirring words.
And in just a few hours, the San Antonio Spurs have a shot at redemption after frittering away what should have been a slam dunk for a fifth NBA title and a deserved crowning of a dynasty.
Game six is still fresh in my mind. Not only Tuesday's collapse when the Spurs were up by 5 with 20 seconds left. Yet another game six is still painful for this Texan. That of course was the 107th World Series when the Rangers were two strikes away -- TWICE -- from claiming the prize. Similarly, San Antonio was just two free throws away -- TWICE -- from beating the Heat on their own floor.
It seemed inevitable. Miami fans were streaming for the exits for what appeared to be a fait accompli. Even the Larry O'Brien trophy was being wheeled down the hall for the postgame ceremony and the certain Spurs celebration.
But, like 2011, 2013 a game six was the dagger for two Texas teams.
Can the Spurs bounce back? The series has been a sequence of alternating win-lose. And the arrow now points in San Antonio's direction. But after the crushing defeat of just two days ago, it will be a miracle to overcome the home floor advantage and the momentum now clearly on Miami's side.
Dang it!!
So now we will have to listen to how great the Heat are for another year.

The window for the aging Spurs to win a fifth title is closing rapidly. Game six was their chance and it was wrapped with a bow. As for the Mavs, they've got a long rebuilding process ahead. I guess I'll have to go regional and hop on the Thunder bangwagon. If they still start their games with a prayer (much like NASCAR), it'll be easy to jump on board for OKC.
I agree. Spurs have a very short window. If at all. Lots of good players...that are wearing out.
The Mavs have a rebuilding process ahead, that is true. But I don’t trust Cuban any longer. He blew up a really good team after they one the championship. He is after Howard, imho. Howard don’t want to play here.
Actually, I like the Thunder. Good team. Durant is from UT ;). But he can’t do it by himself.

As far as Danny Green disappearing, money makes a man do a lot of things. How in the hell does he go from averaging some 20 points a game and making threes up the ying yang to being a total nonfactor. Like a said, money makes men do things. And a lot of money talks. Refs tried their best to rig it for Miami in the 6th game and Spurs were helpless to BS calls. Refs took them out of the game, and they let Miami steal it. Plain and simple. Reminded me of Ali’s phantom punch that knocked out Sonny Liston. That one too was controlled by the Mob. This was also. Too much money for the Miami Gangbangers to lose. End of story.
And all this talk of gangbanger #1 being better than MJ is ridiculous. Like Jordan says, when James wins his 6th title let the comparisions begin.
I'm not wedded to a particular NBA team, or any pro team for that matter. I grew up in the Bay Area, my first sports hero was Willie Mays. However, I've lived in Texas for 25 years. My teams of choice have been the local teams: Rangers, Mavericks, and I tolerate the Cowboys because I live in Valley Ranch.

Believe me, 99% of the people outside of South Florida are not happy about this.
The best team lost. Let’s see how many of the drooling media on ESPN tell the truth today and say Spurs are the best team and Miami got lucky. Miami is LaBron James. He doesn’t play, they can’t beat the YMCA league champs.
All they needed was one frickin’ defensive rebound in that final minute in Game Six.
Don’t tell me you think the NBA fixed? I hear too much of that.
Fixed is too complicated a situation. The refs are just plain bad, and their badness in the playoffs always seems to have very predictable results. Then there’s the NBA two rule book system (stars pretty obviously get favorable calls over scrubs very consistently) for a long time, add in the gambling scandal from a few years ago where in the NBA admitted most of its refs violate the gambling rules to some level and NOBODY got punished, David Stern’s comment about “knowing where the body’s are buried” when he was facing some issues, the constantly “interesting” draft lottery, and a lot of very high profile just plain bad calls that have a tendency to prolong series (how about that game 4 Heat win) or favor more popular teams. It’s just hard to say NBA games are 100% fair. There’s just too many times when if you sat down and figured out what the league’s (Stern’s) desired result would be that’s exactly what happens. Doesn’t seem coincidental.
The Draft Lottery has a witness from every team present. So if its getting fixed its with their knowledge.
