Miss Utah Marissa Powell, who looked stunning in a white strapless evening gown at the Miss USA pageant, bombed her final onstage question last night at the Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort in Las Vegas. "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star/Miss USA judge NeNe Leakes asked Powell, who was named the most photogenic at the pageant, to answer the following question:
"A recent report shows that in 40% of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society?"
This is a great question, and something you'd expect a Miss USA candidate to be well-prepared for. It's part of a much larger discussion that has been going on for a long time now and it's a great opportunity for a Miss USA contestant to totally nail it.
Here's Miss Utah's incoherent response, though:
"I think that we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to...figure out how to create jobs right now, that is the greatest problem. I think especially the men are, um, seen as the leaders of this so we need to try to figure out how to create education better so we can solve this problem.
You can really see the heartbreak and disappointment in Powell's eyes in the video posted below. She clearly knew she messed it up.

The classic!
Aimee Teegarden: Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans cant locate the US on a world map. Why do you think this is?
Miss South Carolina Lauren Caitlin Upton:
I personally believe, that U.S. Americans,
are unable to do so,
because uh,
some, people out there, in our nation dont have maps.
and uh
I believe that our education like such as in South Africa,
and the Iraq,
everywhere like such as
and, I believe they should uh,
our education over here,
in the U.S. should help the U.S.
or should help South Africa,
and should help the Iraq and Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future,
for us.
Host Mario Lopez Thank you very much South Carolina.
Yep. The answer should be to quote Mark Twain -— there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.
I walked into the room yesterday and saw my 19 year old daughter had this on TV. I asked her why she was watching...she answered “ I want to see how dumb they are”
Beauty is only skin deep...
And in this case she missed a perfect opportunity to speak Utahnics. Hat tip to Wes Clark. http://wesclark.com/ubn/utahnics.html
As with Ebonics, people who speak Utahnics are genetically pre-disposed to do so. Therefore, I am convinced that we must allocate funds to teach Utahnics to non-natives. I have included a few Utahnics phrases below to illustrate the magnitude of the problem.
“djeet?” (”Did you eat?”)
“lawnmore” (lawn mower)
“leafblore” (leaf blower)
“cha” (You)
“ain’tcha?” (Aren’t you?)
“dcha?” (Did you?)
“djew?” (”Did you?”, Panguitch version)
“squeet” (”Let’s go eat)
“Lardy, Darthy, that’s a gargeous ahrange farmal!” (”Lordy, Dorothy, that’s a gorgeous orange formal!”)
Here is a typical Utahnics conversation:
LaVerl: “Djeet yet?”
LaVell: “No, djew?”
LaVar: “Squeet!”
Thank you. It's an idiotic, agenda-driven, loaded question and should be called out as such.
She should have just said something about Whirled Peas and moved on. She’s not running for President.
And everyone knows that all that matters is the baithing suit competition, with evening gown coming in a distant second.
I have not watched this farce since the late 70’s.
That said, I think Miss Congeniality is a great movie. :-)
Alas, sometimes context requires one address a question as having a valid basis, even though the framework for the reasoning is deeply flawed.
“I cannot comprehend the confusion of mind which would produce such questions.” - Charles Babbage paraphrased
Great answer - how do you look in an evening gown?
:)
Guilty.
Poor girl was ambushed by a typical crap mouth liberal. The very premise is a lie, which is typical of the liberal mental functioning. I can understand why this stymied the girl. But really, aren’t we the people getting accustomed to being lied to? The current regime cannot go a day without issuing a page full of lies, fed through the enemy media vermin euphemistically known as ‘the mainstream media’.
“A recent report shows that in 40% of American families with children, women are the primary earners, yet they continue to earn less than men. What does this say about society?”
Correct answer: Depends on what cause you want to tackle: Women leaving the workforce to have children; Fatherless homes; equal pay for equal work.
The statistic is simply a number that reflects many different aspects of American culture. Some reasons for the number may be positive while others might be negative, but those reasons must be analyzed individually before it can be determined whether any government involvement would give a net positive result, or if there is, in fact any real problem reflected in the number.
Without further analysis it is a simple raw data point.
Yes, I like it!
This is absolutely the funniest piece of video of somebody attempting to be serious.
Not much work would get done with her in the office. Cat fights everywhere too.
In the sexual world:
Men are judged by their level of success - usually financial. this means that men of disproportionat “sexual advantage” tend to be segregated. The mail room is nowhere near the board room.
But women are judged on appearance and femininity - character, the way they look and move, etc. Women from both ends of the spectrum - and everything in between - often work in the same office together. This can result in friction betweeen those of child bearing age who are not married or not happy in their marriages.
Since the majority of children are now brought up without fathers, that would be a significant factor.
That sounds similar to Obama’s stall while waiting for the teleprompter to be fixed at his press conference on Obamacare a couple weeks back.
How many of the contestants are actually from the states they represent? I heard there is a professional? group of contestants that make the pagent scene in multiple states.
Seems to me that a major characteristic of leftists, whether in Big Government, Big Media, Big Academia, or Big Activism is that they cannot even ask a question without lying.
One of life’s most unfair truisms:
Good looking people don’t always have to have the right answers.
