The strange part of the circus that surrounds Tim Tebow's every move including reports Monday that he's going to sign with the New England Patriots is that he does so little to keep it alive.
He doesn't court the media. He doesn't say outlandish things. He doesn't complain about coaching decisions or teammates. He doesn't publicly beg for another chance. Even the quarterback's outward displays of faith (Tebowing, for instance) are nothing that dozens of other NFL players don't do each week after scoring a touchdown.
Tebow is a good soldier, a young player who never said he was as good as his fans claim or publicly ripped into his critics. He, even during his star turn with the Denver Broncos in 2011, always claimed he was just looking to get better.
The circus never cared. His supporters never stopped pushing, his detractors never stopped blasting and the media never stopped feeding that ratings-gold beast.
And it nearly crushed his career.
So now it's New England. Now it's Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. And now for Tebow it's the perfect place and the perfect opportunity at the absolute most desperate of times.
No one pulls the stakes out from under the big top like Belichick.

An impossibility since both teams are in the AFC.
Considering they're both AFC teams the odds are against that happening.
The circus won’t be gone, but the circus won’t be allowed to park as close to the practice facility as it has been. And Belichick will dismiss the circus rudely often, like he already did in yesterday’s press conference “that’s enough questions on that player”.
And, I'll grudgingly have to admit that Tom Brady is the best QB in the NFL.
He’s there because he knows the Jet’s playbook.
Also there will be no QB controversy. Brady would not have signed off on this (per se) had he not liked the idea of Tebow coming. Brady, unlike insecure Sanchez, is a great QB (probably the greatest when all said and done) and in no danger of losing his job. He probably likes the idea of Tebow taking the inside the 5 yard line licks now and then.
Even though Tebow has said he wants to be a QB only watch for him to come out of the backfield or an occasional slot or TE position as do all the Pats receivers.
He has said in the past that he will play no other position than QB. Granted, he may have discovered a couple million reasons to change his mind on that.
Oops! Yupp! I knew that but was typing fast and phrased it wrong. Lol!
And rational. You might even like most of it.
Imagine that, all that in an article about Tebow.......
Agreed or the Cowgirls should have gotten him and sent the choker Romo packing instead of giving him even more reasons ($$$) to under-achieve.
This is the most persuasive reason I've heard anybody offer yet.
Of course I meant to say the Pats beat the Steelers and go on to win the SB....sigh.
Having some beer, cooking and trying to keep up with the Turkey thing as well as the scandals.
But then the conceited, idiot Jones passed a chance on Alex Smith too.
I would have liked to see the Bears pick him up,even though it scares the heck to watch him throw. He throws like he’s tossing a baseball, dropping his throwing hand below his waist. You’d think rushing linemen would get the idea of knocking the ball out of his hands.
On the other hand, it takes 5 years to make an NFL quarterback. You can be on a winning team and look good before then, but at five years an NFL quarterback matures.
I think in the end he will too.
I am now officially a Pats fan! With Brady as QB and Tim as tight end or specialty player I hope they never lose again! I’d have a publicity campaign that said: Unlike the Jets and Broncos, we have no trouble with God!.
Sorry and I'll admit my mistake. I didn't know that Robert Kraft was Jewish. I was only aware of his leftist worldview. That aspect of him still does need a change of heart and mind so that he'll embrace the real America. Whether it's Tim Tebow or someone else that provides the motivation for such a transformation, having Robert Kraft join the Conservative side would be welcome.
No matter how many victories/opportunities it costs his team.
Then you’re hoping Ryan Mallet has a very good day. He’s the backup to Brady.
bttt
There’s a major difference between Jones and Davis: at one point Davis was actually an excellent owner who understood football and how to manage a team.
