'The bones of Elizabeth I, Good Queen Bess, lie mingled with those of her sister, Bloody Mary, in a single tomb at Westminster Abbey.
But are they really royal remains or evidence of the greatest conspiracy in English history?. If that is not the skeleton of Elizabeth Tudor, the past four centuries of British history have been founded on a lie.'

And none of the ladies of the bedchamber noticed the Queen had a 5 oclock shadow and was shaving?Or the Adam's apple, or a deep voice or chest hair?

Good point. A guy wanting to be a girl couldn’t get surgery for that in the 16th Century.

Thanks the scotsman.
If this is about the Biseley Boy, the story appeared in National Geographic over 35 years ago.
To all -- please ping me to other topics which are appropriate for the GGG list. |

You're absolutely right, and I highly doubt that chief spy master Francis Walsingham would have looked the other way on this.

I noticed the apparent beard shadow in that painting as well, but some light-colored oil paints become more translucent with time. That could be simply underpainting showing through.

This is a re-ping of a topic a few years old now; I was remiss at the time to not point out that this Bisley Boy story showed up 40+ years ago in National Geographic, in an article about the Cotswolds, probably I read it in the compilation hardcover "This England".
