Does it taste soapy to you?

You obviously have not been keeping up on the Weather Reports from the Land of Flash Floods. At this moment, we are four weeks into our monsoon season, and if you understand monsoons, you know there are storm clouds, lightning/thunder and rain that are with us for the entire eight- to ten-week period.

We have had several storms of major proportions that have caused wind, hail and rain damage as well as flooding, since the last of June. It will continue until at least the first week in September.

In the winter we have clouds AND snow, at the higher elevations (above 3,000 ft) quite frequently, and sometimes, we will have a storm that seems to slow down when it gets here, so we a blessed with overcast skies and moisture in the air.

What was the name of the town your father was born in? It could be a ghost town, and as such, is worthy of my visit!

Not the flavored stuff. If it tasted soapy, it would be pitched post haste.

Find a Kroger store/affiliate (and look for small bottles in colors appropriate for the contents...coconut flavor is clear, guava is pinkish-orange, and regular is green. I just have trouble with the slick spots...

Ask local grocers and mini marts, as they may carry stuff the big stores don’t.

http://www.kroger.com/Pages/default.aspx

The bottom of the page has the different store names.

Ah. I detest cilantro so much I will pick it out of the food I’m eating. I don’t care if it’s soapy or not...it’s GROSS! I loathe it.

That’s how I feel about bell peppers.

Sucks to be a super-taster sometimes.

I don’t expect everyone to like everything that’s put in front of them.

I had an experience once when Igor was still alive, where he invited the Golf Pro to dinner. It was fine with me. I can cook with the best of them. I spent a lot of time on the menu and asked Igor to make sure my choices for ingredients were good ones for the Pro and his wife. He assured me all was well.

Imagine my chagrin when, during the course of the meal, the Pro asked the ingredients to the main dish, then the salad and then the dessert, I was told that food allergies and/or dislikes prevented one or both of them from eating at my table.

My embarrassment was nothing compared to my anger at Igor for his lies. I blew off the embarrassment. The lies are still a naggy little part of my reasons for divorcing him.

And as for green peppers, you can always substitute poblanos!

PS: We had a rule when the kids were growing up that if I presented them with a new food, all they were required to do was taste it. If they didn’t like it, fine; I would most likely not make it again.

Today, they are willing to try almost anything that has familiar ingredients. And they WILL ask: What’s in it?

LOL!

The rule at our house was: You WILL eat what is put before you, if not for dinner, for the following breakfast, if not then, the following lunch, if not then, the following dinner, etc.

This rule ended with the first, last and only attempt at stuffed bell peppers.

And that was only because after 3 days even my mom agreed that they were no longer edible.

They were never served again.

My parents tried the “you will eat this eventually” tactic with me, but I would fast. Even as a very short person, I had certain likes and dislikes, and if I didn’t like it, I would have to be given an IV in order to eat it. HAHAHAHA!

I promised never to do that to my own children, so I gave them options.

Hey, I even have directions!

"DIRECTIONS: From Beowawe, take Nevada 306 south for 21.5 miles. Exit right and follow for 1.5 miles to Tenabo."

If you should visit, photos would be appreciated since I doubt if I or my Sisters will ever make the 'pilgrimage' ;-)

Now that I have a vehicle, and can go where I want, should finances allow, I will check out Tenabo. The name is familiar. Is there anything in particular you would like me to look for? Cemetery, landmarks, etc? It would be FUN!

Do clouds ever look down on us and say, "Hey, look! That one is shaped like an idiot!"

According to my poem, they sometimes weep over us.

Clouds

Soundless giants of the air,
Drifting slowly everywhere,
Softly flowing, gentle flight,
Unseen shadows in the night.

Summer skies of azure blue,
Often hold a cloud or two.
Snowbank castles looking down,
At the lowlifes on the ground.

In Winter skies they do convene,
To cover up our muddy scene.
Some ugliness just has to go,
So then they cover it with snow.

Grazing sheep of soundless tread,
Passing slowly overhead,
Our miasmas upward creep,
To make these gentle creatures weep.

Right now, here. Maybe they’re sad because Frank ran headfirst into the wall. He was trying to tackle Vlad, but Vlad dodged.
