Preparing for civil unrest (2009 But Timely Today)
Backwoods Home ^ | July/August, 2009 | Claire Wolfe

The most remarkable thing about civil unrest is that there hasn't been more of it.

Politicians are making a hash of this country—and much of the rest of the civilized world. We know it. They know it. They know we know it. But we don't feel we can do anything much to stop them.

That right there is the pre-condition for civil unrest—when people are frustrated and politicians are nervous.

Worse, that was how things stood before last fall's crash. Before pols on both left and right launched the biggest mass transfer of wealth in history—transferring our wealth (what we had left of it!) to their friends on Wall Street and in the banking industry. In other words, that's how things were before things got bad!

Now everybody's talking about the ongoing catastrophe (even if we are in a momentarily sunny mood). But almost nobody is talking about the logical—maybe even inevitable—consequences of cynical or desperate politicians abusing an already fed-up populace: civil unrest.

I mean people taking to the streets. Or mass resistance. Or crackdowns because the government fears we might do something to upset its apple cart. It's going to happen. Somewhere. At some time. It's going to.

One of the few VIPs to mention the matter openly was Zbigniew Brzezinski, former National Security Advisor and the ultimate insider's insider. He commented on the millions of unemployed or soon-to-be-unemployed and the "...public awareness of this extraordinary wealth that was transferred to a few individuals at levels without historical precedent in America." He told "Morning Joe" Scarborough, "Hell, there could be even riots." I'd say that's an understatement.

Even more remarkable today than when t his article was written... What will be the eventual catalyst that sets things off? We cannot continue like this.

Keep a close eye on gun and ammo sales in the last few years as well as this year.

Look at how much they’ve plowed into new technologies that they deploy for these G-20 summits. Sonic disruptors. Microwave pain guns. Sticky foam that glues a crowd in place.

They’ve prepared well, and unfortunately I don’t think any of that can be overcome by traditional arms.

I know I'm not contributing much to ammo sales this year because I still can't find any.

“When people lose everything, and have nothing left to lose, they lose it.” - Gerald Celente

My take is that once this happens to enough people, and it will, that will be when it happens. I call it “critical mass”.

I agree.

Most Republicans/Conservatives are too busy working their ass off to pay taxes - plus they are pretty much into following the law - even if they don’t like it.

Libs are the protest queens and as long as the government money flows into their EBT cards they’ll be happy.

On the contrary, virtually all of those are only good for crowd control at short range. A decent sniper could take out any of those (or better yet, the operators of said weapons) from a mile away. After all, how much did all that high tech junk do against a bunch of camel jockeys armed with rusty AK's and homemade bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Those resources are limited, though.

They’ll be used in places “where they can do the most good”.

They’ll protect DC above all.

I’ve seen how they locked-down Pittsburgh when they held the G-20 here. You would have needed a column of tanks to get anywhere near those people.

The “civil unrest” will start with the EBT crowd.

It may be the RESULT of the right withdrawing their support for the system, but that withdrawal won’t be so much “unrest” as it is simply refusing to participate further.

And make no mistake - these anti-unrest assets will not be used against the EBT zombies, but against those defending their lives and property from them.

A few redneck deer hunters could ruin their day, bigtime.

Or the food, or the smart phones or the gasoline and mobility (that is becoming less important to many). Something like that. Until then the sheeple will live with their heads in the sand and anyone who tries to protest will be a nut job and carried away in the dark.

Politicians are making a hash of this country

Hmmmm, I wonder how long before we call a spade a spade?

We call the Mafia, Mafia.

We call Drug Cartels, Drug Cartels.

We call Street Gangs, Street Gangs yet we insist on calling the Criminals in government by the benign name, Politicians???

Those are non-lethal weapons for controlling unruly mobs. I doubt they have the range of a hunting rifle. They're also large (vehicle-sized) targets.

Yup. I would maintain the the US government is totally incapable of controlling a truly angry US city. We had a lot of trouble in Baghdad. At home, things will be much, much harder.
