Also, I live in Florida, lightening capital of the world.
Not grounded.
IMHO, no.
Maybe if the lightning strikes the tree, the tree will gain super powers?
Those nails you used might.......
I would take the wait and see approach. Just to be safe.
Those metal benches might.
"...yea da steps will take a day, the railings maybe two, but when I get done, you won't recognize it and the firemen won't come near it"
My guess would be to prevent squirrels or snakes from going up the tree but the other ones don’t have them.
The collapsible low band antenna in your neighbor’s yard is apt to attract more lightning than your tree.
I have a 12’ length of rebar buried 11’ in the ground and attach my antennae and home grounds to it. I’ve not yet had a strike in 4 years living here in west central Florida.
There’s an unshielded tree right next to the shielded tree. If a cat wants to get a creature, he’ll just climb the unshielded tree and jump over. He’s sure-footed, confident, and he has claws. Even if he loses his footing and falls out of the tree, he won’t be fazed because they always land on their feet unhurt. He’ll just climb back up and get that bird or squirrel’s nest, or whatever you’re trying to keep them from getting. You wasted your time and money on that tree wrap.
My cat roams and roams. Good life for cats.
A few years ago I bought this cute little rhinestone collar for my cat. I put a little bell on it, and also his rabies ID tag (which cost me 30 bucks). He left, and when he came back that night the collar was gone. Two years later I went up on my roof to sweep off the dead tree leaves, which can rot and damage your roof, and I found that collar up there. He’d been messing with my head about it all that time, the sneaky bastard.
