The next welfare scandal is going to be the huge balances on some of these EBT cards.
Wait until the Department of Terrorist Assistance (DTA) finally coughs up how much money is on these cards. And yes, Gov. Deval Patrick, this is another one of those “anecdotes.”
Last January a radio listener from Pittsfield sent me a receipt from a local convenience store. Some loafer had run up a tab of $3.28, so he whipped out an EBT card to pay for it. After paying his three bucks, he had $7,066.58 left on the card.
I kid you not. Over seven grand on an EBT card.
There aren’t too many ways to run up seven grand plus on your EBT card. Of course it’s easy if you never use the card while every month you’re getting a new direct deposit of taxpayer cash.
But the only ways not to spend down the balance are because 1) you don’t need an EBT card at all or 2) you have more than one EBT card.
It’s got to be one or the other, right?

What a lot of FReepers understand that we are borrowing trillions to keep millions of people fed, housed, clothed and given medical care, cell phones and walking around cash.
Government politicians know that the debt is too big to ever overcome without major revolutionary, ugly corrections. The inner cities will burn, the suburbs raided and the country folk will end up banding together to stop the onslaught.
Think I’m crazy? You either have to have debt forgiven or go to war to tell them to screw off. Debts will be collected (unless you are the USA where we always get stiffed).
When EBT cards stop working, that’s when the Hope and Change becomes real.
When they can’t get what they are entitled to through the government (when it goes broke),
they’ll come directly for it.
You’ll have to fight to keep what’s yours.
This is why the Founders knew 2A was so crucial to the survival of the Republic. The parasitic classes, which include Government employees will eventually come to TAKE what the deem as “theirs” and what they “deserve”.
I fear what is coming, and it will turn neighbore against neighbor and tribal gangs will form.
That’s why Obama and the Commie Dems are so fixated on taking guns and ammo away. If the People cannot resist, he would move us to gulags.

Wonder what is stored on the magnetic strip of a pre-paid EBT card? Hopefully the geniuses in DC aren't storing the balance on there and it is being manipulated.

If the government is so concerned that we tax payers contribute every dime we owe to support these programs they should be equally concerned that every dime goes to those who justifiably need that dime.

A local Indiana tv station got a file from the state of where TANF cash withdrawals at ATMs were made.

Time?voting perks passed out, a new car in 08, a motorboat or/and moped in 12 and buying the office is how do you say TRANSPARENT. Restaurants have to pay their help. Loss of tips and food complaint losses are added to menu pricing, inflation...too.
