The next welfare scandal is going to be the huge balances on some of these EBT cards.
Wait until the Department of Terrorist Assistance (DTA) finally coughs up how much money is on these cards. And yes, Gov. Deval Patrick, this is another one of those “anecdotes.”
Last January a radio listener from Pittsfield sent me a receipt from a local convenience store. Some loafer had run up a tab of $3.28, so he whipped out an EBT card to pay for it. After paying his three bucks, he had $7,066.58 left on the card.
I kid you not. Over seven grand on an EBT card.
There aren’t too many ways to run up seven grand plus on your EBT card. Of course it’s easy if you never use the card while every month you’re getting a new direct deposit of taxpayer cash.
But the only ways not to spend down the balance are because 1) you don’t need an EBT card at all or 2) you have more than one EBT card.
It’s got to be one or the other, right?

All I know is that I’m constantly standing behind these jag-offs in the supermarket line who are buying food I can’t afford and driving away in vehicles that I can’t afford.

The left (and for all I know, many Republicans too) would gladly spend a million dollars a vote, as long as it's taxpayer money. Need 20 million votes? You'll have to borrow $20 trillion to get it? No problem, where do I sign?
That's exactly how they think.
My wife works with a woman (single mother) who lives in public housing, has an EBT card, and complains about the free breakfasts her kids get at the public school. The woman just got back from Disney World and will be going to Ireland this summer. She works part-time but seems to have money for everything.
The best part for the left is that the people getting thousands of OUR hard earned dollars are STILL counted as poor downtrodden underclass oppressed etc etc.
Call and cancel the returning flight.
Just remember that you work for them under the kind benevolence of The Won who kindly allows you to pay for them...
EBT scam cards drive me nuts.
The best solution is to cancel all of them, then give out 20 dollar a week survival packages. Put the post office and former IRS people to work preparing and delivering them.
Well, Obama did tell them to take off their bedroom slippers.
On a local radio show, guy called in an said that he was having a real hard time getting financed on a new dump truck for his landscaping business. Salesman was upset because he could finance a zombie on a new Escalade without a problem. Escalade purchaser had 6 dependents and got about 8k/month on welfare and that qualified him for financing.
We are friends with a woman who works at our local Asian grocery. We chat every time we see her. The store recently installed tanks for Alaskan crab. We asked - who can afford $30/lb for live crab? She says its most for food-stamps buyers.
Last week we saw a family of Burmese immigrants whip out their EBT card to pay for a $500 grocery bill, that included every food item you can imagine. I watched them carry their haul out to brand-new Lexus GX460.
If you want to feel real rage stand behind a person who cannot even speak English and who has three kids in tow. They whip out the card and spend our taxpayer funds as a matter of “right!” I almost lost it yesterday while watching such a scenario.
Perhaps we should start speaking out.
Neal Boortz suggested a long time ago saying “You’re WELCOME!” to the locusts that whip out the taxpayer funded EBT cards—call attention to it!
The best solution for EBT low-lifers is:
1. Basics only: beans, rice, peanut butter, regular bread, milk, etc. Want meat? Work for it. Want a nice Danish? Work for it. Want a beer? Work for it.
2. Automatic disqualification from the franchise. IOW - on welfare == no vote.
That should take the fun out of it.
These idiots embrace Socialism. We should give them Socialism. No cash, but you can wait in line for hours every day for your block of government cheese and a loaf of bread. Making them wait in lines for 8 to 10 hours a day will keep them out of trouble.
They should also have to wait in line at the “Free Clinic” whenever they need medical care. All doctors who vote Dem should be made to give up their golf day and ‘volunteer’ at the clinics. If they want Socialism and Obamacare, they should pay with their time and money.
Be ready for a fight. Remember they have “RIGHTS” you do not.
The argument supporting what you saw seems to go something like “The Burmese are victims of British colonialism...and since you are white like the British, you should shut up and pay their Lexus bill to help mend the legacy of past discrimination.” :)
It would seem the Cloward & Piven strategy is working perfectly.
What better way to pave the way for a bloodless takeover of the USA by implementing the communist manifesto using the Cloward & Piven strategy.
Even people who used to think C&P and the Communist Manifesto were only discussed by conspiracy nuts are coming around to the realization that it is no conspiracy theory but it is happening and the people who warned us about it were not nuts.
