Coming off the first batting Triple Crown in 45 years, Miguel Cabrera is making a bid to be the first hitter to do so in consecutive seasons. He currently leads the American League in batting average (.391), RBI (55) and is one home run off the pace at 14. In a recent piece here at FanGraphs, Jeff Sullivan commented on Cabreras impressive all fields hitting and ability to cover the full strike zone with power. I have put together some imagery to highlight this ability and show a bit of why Cabrera is such a threat.
With this one guy....the Tigers are twenty-five games better in the win column at the end of the season. It’s like having Ted Williams in your line-up and being the pitcher for the Tigers today.....you can pitch an less-than-average game, and still have a fair chance of winning.
Another great trade by the Marlins.
I grabbed that graphic yesterday. None of those home runs were even in the strike zone let alone his hot zone low in the strike zone.
In related Tiger news, Anibal Sanchez pitched a 1 hit game last night. He went into the 9th inning when Joe Mauer hit a line drive right up the middle.
Ahh... Anibal - ANOTHER great trade by the Marlins.
It helps that the Tigers have a top notch pitching staff and deep bullpen.
Justin Verlander has been struggling a bit lately but Scherzer and Sanchez have been hot. Its nice to see Jose Valverde back and on top of his game again considering the fact that he didn’t have a job at the start of the season.
Thanks FlJoePa.
Didn’t Jim Leyland come from the Marlins as well?
Time for an HGH test
The best thing about pitching for the Tigers is not having to face Cabrera.
Fantastic video, btw!
Cabrera’s a dough boy. Hardly an HGH suspect.
I saw a pitcher from another team talking about pitching to Detroit the other day. He said you might win the game but a no hitter against Detroit is pretty much off the table for now.
They pitch around Cabrera to get to Fielder. LOL
After watching him and Ortiz this year, I’m wondering if there is some new substance that drug tests can’t detect.
Cabreras a dough boy. Hardly an HGH suspect.
Isn't he also a recovering alcoholic?
He is all talent.
I know he doesn’t drink anymore. Anyone who has gotten into trouble while drinking is labeled an alcoholic.
He seems pretty clean now. A whole different guy now that he lives in Michigan and is a devout Catholic.
I think he was 19 years old when he came up in 03. In that year’s world series, Clemens knocked him on his ass and he got up and hit one out in Yankee Stadium. Special player for sure.
Let's just say they might want to find a more consistent closer if they want to win it all...........
Go Wings!!!
ping
Torii Hunter is one of the good guys. He took a kid out on the field during a rain delay to play catch the other day.
