I have to say, I did not see this one coming at all. It's one thing to revive a series that's been dormant for many years, like TNT has done successfully with Dallas, but has there ever been a case of a show coming back only four years after it ended?
But hey, I'm not a TV programming executive and I don't want to be. Hands up if you want to see Jack back! Entertainment Weekly reports:
For 24 miniseries/limited series, were hearing Fox is actually currently looking at a 13-episode order for the show. For a cable series, thats actually a full season (heck, for HBOsGame of Thrones, its more than a full season). So that would be a pretty significant potential order to bring back Bauer.
Fox had no comment. Hopefully there will be clarity at the networks upfront presentation Monday.
Of course, a 13-episode order does raise the question: Will 24 continue in its real-time format, but just follow Bauer over the course of 13 hours? That would sort of botch the title, though, right? Or will Bauer face another 24-hour adventure, but the narrative will skip time? It would be great to see Bauer get on L.A.s 405 freeway at the end of one episode and arrive at his destination two hours later at the start of the next episode now that would be realistic action!

Remember 24 already aired for 8 full seasons, plus a 2 hour special the year of the writers strike.
That’s 194 hours - a lot more than most series ever last. I think 3 years ago people just felt the show had run its course and it was time to move on.
Will be interesting to see how they work within the 13 hour format.....
Who could that enemy be? Hmmm, don’t know, but either the guy that played Satan in “The Bible” or the villain in “Revolution” could play the role.
Hire Vince Flynn to be the major script writer. Don’t go p.c. on Islamic terrorism and I’ll watch.
24 had grown stale and boring when it was last on fox.
Probably they’ll just do 13 hours of real time.
When they did the 2 hour special in 2008 it was 2 hours of real time. Also season 1 was a little disjointed because the original order was for 13 episodes. Pretty much everything had wrapped up after the 13th episode that year and then they needed to create new problems the next hour.
I could hardly stand to finish watching it near the end. Maybe I didn't. I don't remember. All I remember was that it was a waste of my time and that it sucked. Shame too, since it started out so good.
bump for later
I stopped watching the initial series when they started assembling the cast for green commercials.

They would be perfect for the role. Good choices.

NEW YORK — Its time to load some new batteries in the clock: Jack is back!
Fox officially announced Monday that its reviving its high-octane drama 24 for a 12-episode limited run, which is set to roll out next summer.
24: Live Another Day will reunite executive producer Howard Gordon, who went on to find success with Showtimes Homeland, with Mr. Jack Bauer himself, Kiefer Sutherland.
Its great to have Jack back. 24 redefined the drama genre, and as we re-imagine the television miniseries, this iconic show will again break new ground for the network, network Chairman Kevin Reilly said in a statement. The series remains a global sensation, and everyone at Fox is thrilled to be back at work with Kiefer, Howard and the incredibly creative 24 team.
I just saw this, and found it interesting.
I didn’t watch the show when it was originally on. Since the first of the year I’ve had some time on my hands, and I watched all eight seasons.
It’s on Netflix, and you can watch in in HD without commercials. You don’t have to wait a week to see the next show. And man, it’s a real experience. I highly recommend it to folks who didn’t get to see it when it was on, or would like a refresher.
Just watched the last show of Season 8 this morning.
Excellent show...
Keifer did a great job. The rest of the case was also good.
Flynn died two days ago. No joke.

Dang, the good guys die to soon!
In his honor I bought the Last Man and pre-ordered The Survivor.
No more Mitch Rapp. This is sad too.
