I've been on Midway's notification list for 22LR. Got an email time stamped 7:07, caught it by 7:30 and they were already sold out again.
I don't know how much they sold in 23 minutes but it was all they had.
Now they aren't even keeping the list.
I read “One Second After” a good while back...and so am well stocked.
I have about 7k of 22LR as I bought a brick every time I passed by. Wish I had more.
Lot of price gouging now going on. Folks are buy to resell at a big mark up.
Apparently, at one point, I just bought a box of the CCI, used a magazine load out of it, and lost the box somewhere in the house.
I think that's 500 rounds of the CCI I've found in the last 6 months.

I may get him a decent air rifle, birthday coming up next month.
I have found that the smaller gun shops in my area are quite accommodating. They take names and tell you in advance when their shipments are coming in.
The bigger stores (Cabelas, Bass Pro and Gander Mountain) just chuckle. But the little mom& pop stores seem willing to take care of the little guy.
Of course, in return, I’m spending a few bucks more for that new Taurus “pocket gun” for the wife, but if they take care of me, what’s another 10%?
I’ve been buying shotgun shells like that. So far their supplies aren’t limited but that may change. I wish I had thought of getting .22 when it was $7 for a brick of 50 and the shelves were full. I never appreciated it and even let the guns just collect dust. Now that it is sparse, I wish I had some more (I probably have only 500 rounds of .22)
Yeah, its tough right now. Hopefully this nonsense comes to an end soon. If it does end I’ll never let myself get low again.
My local Cabela’s gets .22LR in boxes of 100 and bricks of 300+ from time to time. Like, at least once a week. Limit one per customer.
They’re also pretty good about keeping stocked with fairly large amounts of .223/5.56. Today there was a very large display of just one brand of 5.56, and the shelves had significant quantities of other brands.
Some of the larger calibers are branded “Herters”; they’re made in Russia with non-reloadable cases, I think under contract from Remington. A few brass-cased Herters .30 Carbine were there, priced somewhat higher than the non-reloadables. Limit 5 boxes per customer on the larger calibers.
And another thing: Cabelas isn’t gouging on price. The 100 rds of .22LR I bought last week were priced ten cents more than a box of the same brand I bought 3-4 years ago. The difference was I was limited to one box: IIRC, that older box was part of a much larger purchase (less than ten boxes).
They bring all the ammo out every morning at 7 A.M. and some days I score but most days I don't.
Find out when your Walmart brings out the ammo and get in line :)
Weekdays seem to be easier!
I’ve got about 6K and really wish I had bought more. I wish there were some sort of market where one could trade one caliber for another.
“This isnt a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.”
Amen!
“...and lost the box somewhere in the house.”
Your memory seems to have blank spots - do you, perchance, have another wife in the house somewhere whom you forgot?
My guess: the shortage will last until early next summer. By that point (if we manage to avoid something really ugly), people will have enough stored to feel comfortable, and prices will drop to a little above where they were a year ago. I'm not buying any .22 or .223 until that happens. I have enough of both, and I'd rather a thousand people had 200 rounds each than ten people had 20,000 rounds each. If things get ugly, the more decent Americans who are armed, the better. Also, the more patriotic parents there are who can teach their kids to shoot, the better. I'm not going to get in their way just to have a larger stockpile.
I don't really need enough to make the fee reasonable.
I made it a habit to toss a 500 round carton or two into my cart every time I was at Cabelas. I’ve got a little over 10k. If I’d seen this coming....
I can’t picture myself just walking up and surrendering my gun to anyone, it just isn’t going to happen.
I just wish I had more handgun ammo.
Heh, heh, heh.
