At 105-YEARS-OLD, Pearl Cantrell most definitely wants bacon with that.
"I love bacon, I could eat it for every meal - and I do!", the Texas granny told a local TV station...
News of her faith in bacon reached a local producer, Oscar Mayer. They organised a special treat via fast food outlet Weinermobile.

Texas ping?
Mmmmmm. Bacon...............
Pork fat rules!
we have been brained washed into thinking for many years that this that and the other are bad bad foods ,when it’s does not matter
Bacon and eggs. Don’t forget the eggs. There was a time when eggs were forbidden by the food mafia, too.
Maybe the curing used on the bacon helps to preserve the body of the bacon’s consumer, too.
Bergess Meredith knew what bacon was all about in Grumpier Old Men.

Thank you and Pearl, for this post, I can’t give up bacon either.
Sez me, if I live to be 105, I'll eat all the bacon I want. More power to her!
I have several ancestors and family members who have lived past 90, and a couple past 100, and every one of them has eaten bacon and eggs almost every day of his/her life. Fat doesn’t make you fat. That’s all a big, fat lie, told by people who don’t want anyone other than the elite to eat meat (I’m on a rhyming spree!). Fat in the diet does not equal fat in the blood, or on the body.
Like hildebeast says, what difference does it make anyway? The same results are........dirt naps for everybody. Enjoy life, eat bacon, laugh, drink it you want to, smoke if you want to, add salt if you want to. Except in NYC of course.
Congratulations to Perl on her long life and revealing the secret to short life for hogs :-)
My mother always calls leftover bacon grease a seasoning for beans, peas or just about any vegetable. The grease also keeps cornbread from sticking in that cast iron skillet. The crust on cornbread is really better too. Mom is 91 and had to give up her vegetable gardening three years ago.
LOL
Get some non microwave popcorn, put some bacon grease in a pot on the stove and cook it up. Unbelievable.
The rise in obesity corresponds to the use of HFCS in everything, and everyone being told to eat more grains. High fat, high protein, and lots of complex carbs (fresh fruit and veggies) is the way to go. (And don't leave out lacto-fermented foods, too)
Yep, you are right on the money. The old-fashioned balanced diet was probably the best for the most. Genetics play a huge role, so that what is healthy for one group might not be for another. Since that’s taboo, the balanced approach makes the most sense across a large population. The food pyramid is a disaster.
I try to completely avoid soy and HFCS, and it’s not easy to do. I had soup yesterday, as I recovered from having a tooth pulled. Why is there soy protein in clam chowder???
Bacon is meat candy.
