Rush's caller asked him when he was going to do another "inaugural speech" like the one he did at CPAC four years ago when he famously said he hoped Obama fails.
After the call, he mused that some evenings when everyone was asleep, he'd sip an adult beverage and think about possibly buying some time on network TV to try and reach Americans who don't get info anywhere else. (Snerdly cracked that he could get that time cheaper on NBC.)
Of course Rush ended with a "Shhh, don't tell anybody. This is just something I wonder about when I'm alone" (paraphrased), which means attacks will be all around by tomorrow morning from the lib press. "How dare he?" "Who does he think he is?" "No one wants to hear his racist blather!" Etc.
But what do conservatives think? On the plus side, the critics will be all over his half hour no prompter or note speech, so even if low info voters don't actually watch, they can't avoid the constant critique of it. If Rush aimed for the critics and their antagonism, he might head them off at the pass and reach people and change minds, especially if he did it a few times. And if the ratings were good enough, the network might even cancel some dating show and pick him up for prime time! If MSNBC cared about money, maybe they'd hire him to do a Point - Counterpoint with Maddow! (A girl can dream; he'd wipe the floor with that ball of sarcasm in a boy's Eton suit.)
I don’t feel that at all. He isn’t over the blind for Rubio. It is more like someone he knows who he’s had enormous respect for that feels that RUBIO is making one big ass effing mistake (he calls naive trust and optimism)and he doesn’t want to treat him like a status-quo RINO because of it. He knows he’s gonna have to come down on him if it comes to it and he’s in a mode right now of rationalization. It is a far cry from cheerleading IMO.
Hey Rush - go for it!
Rush’s TV show was wildly successful. Only problem, broadcasters would schedule the show for after midnight in many locations. This made it really difficult for fans of his who had day jobs.
“Rush Rooms” became the rage. In areas where broadcasters were properly driven by the profit motive and wanted the money from commercials, they put Rush on during the day. The result was “Rush Rooms”, where a restaurant would reserve a room specifically for his viewers so they could see Rush’s show. Many restaurants did a blowout business during the day with that promo.
Rush said he quit because of two reasons. The spite of broadcasters and that he preferred radio.
Exactly!! These groups are calling non-stop and sending tons of mailers for $$, so why don't they invest in ads telling the truth about 0 and this pathetic admins policies?
But what Rush was trying...somewhat unsuccessfully to get across is that Rubio does not understand the amnesty issue as we do, and what Rush did not say is that Rubios perspective seems to be a Hispanic perspective where they generally support amnesty for those who have been here for many years and have established homes and families but they don't like the continuous border jumping.
The issue is that most do not jump the border and have intentionally overstayed visas to remain here expecting someday to get amnesty from some government move....So the reality is that this recent bill is simply Reagan Amnesty II.
Rubio sees it from the perspective of a Hispanic migrant worker and not from the perspective of border sovereignty. So he is naive on the issue yet he says quite clearly that he's not in favor of a general blanket amnesty. So there is a conflict here, because what we know of the bill, it seems that it is....just a different version will all sorts of conditions that will likely be removed after passage.
This too, Rubio seems to be naive about. He does not understand the complete and total mistrust of further amnesty bills after what happened with the last one.
Rush....(and I am not his defender in chief) was purposely trying to avoid the headline...”Limbaugh calls Rubio’s bill another amnesty!” he was trying NOT to get involved in the fray against another conservative regarding a bill he thinks was designed to fail. Anyway....That's how I see it, and generally speaking, I think pretty much exactly as Rush does about everything under the sun....Must be the Midwestern upbringing...
Hate to burst your bubble...
but, like hannity, oreilly and the rest, rush is a republican first, conservative second, and a constitutionalist third...
his opinion means nothiing to me...
"Rush....(and I am not his defender in chief) was purposely trying to avoid the headline...Limbaugh calls Rubios bill another amnesty! he was trying NOT to get involved in the fray against another conservative regarding a bill he thinks was designed to fail.
And there's the point. Rush is going out of his way to describe Rubio as this rock-ribbed conservative when he's started what I have read described elsewhere as a 'Category 5 s**tstorm' with the base. I fail to understand how failure to respect the law, and what is undeniably amnesty, now exposed as both for illegals and those who knowingly employ them, is somehow any sort of conservative value.
"Rubio sees it from the perspective of a Hispanic migrant worker and not from the perspective of border sovereignty"
I agree with that too, and it's a good observation. But the way Rubio needs to see it is from the perspective of a United States Senator who is sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. Which he is not doing, on this issue.
"But what Rush was trying...somewhat unsuccessfully to get across is that Rubio does not understand the amnesty issue as we do,"
Please pardon my jumping around, but this grabbed my attention too. Given the education on this issue that Rubio seems to be getting from conservatives, if this is true his misunderstanding must now be classified as deliberate. And that is something I cannot abide. Like you, I'm a Midwesterner, but the patience we're legendary for holding is, in my case, just about exhausted. Thanks for your honest views -- greatly appreciated.
Go to “My Account”, “My Preferences” and set all to 20. I had to do that earlier.

He probably converted half of us on this thread.
I was converted by peanuts carter. I voted for him because he was a farmer as we were. After I got into the military and seeing how bad he was screwing things up, I have voted against every dim on every ballot.
LIMBAUGH said this morning that this gang of 8/Rubio thing is NOT AMNESTY...That makes him part of the problem, not part of the solution!
Ask him what is conservative about joining this scam to promote AMNESTY??? Or having radical Islam promoter Grover Norquist as Rubios spokesman?
WHO is Americans for a Conservative Direction?

Ross Perot bought time on the eve of the 1996 election to run a 30 minute expose on how Clinton was bought and owned by the Riadys.
It didn’t do any good.
I never missed a show because I videotaped it during whatever time slot it aired. Now, in the days of DVRs, it would be even easier to do that. I remember his saying at the time that the main reason he stopped doing his show was the enormous amount of time it took each day to do a half hour TV show as opposed to what it takes him to do a three hour radio show. I will NEVER forget the clip that he showed of Bill Clinton laughing and talking while he was leaving Ron Brown's funeral - until he looked up and noticed that he was being filmed. Instantly, his demeanor changed to sad and somber, and he even appeared to wipe a tear from his eye. What a fraud!!
Seriously? Rubio is not helping our cause! Rubio wants to be the conservative savior that draws the Hispanic vote in, but there is plenty of evidence that this IS not the way. Not only that, but Schumer and Obama have played him for the fool. He will not get support from the tea party now and they both knew that this would be the death knell for him in that respect.
This is an amnesty bill any way you look at it. The democrats got everything they wanted AND more. We got NOTHING. NADA! No secure borders, we lost everything in the total bill. These people get to come in, enroll in food stamps, if not already, get on SS, Medicaid, every damn program out there will be available to them. My daughter-in-laws, who are legally in the process of citizenship get nothing out of this...and the others get citizenship AHEAD of them. Not only that, but it has broken the bank for both families to go through this process, having to do it over and again for one of the families because of corruption in the system. This bill gives the democrats permanent majority, I don’t care HOW MANY people say it doesn’t. These people know that it is the democrats who give all the goodies. They know this before they cross the border.
I am with Rush and Levin and all of those who are warning of the disaster that this bill is for America. Quit listening to Rubio and listen to someone who can explain it, and NOT IN POLITICAL terms. Rubio is trying to save face, but he is naive and has been used. I didn’t need him to join this gang of 8 to form my own opinion of him. I’d already seen and heard enough to know he is not a conservative through and through. He will take up those causes when enough of his constituents press him in it, but it is not his ideology. He is conservative in some areas only, and not strongly in any of them. He made a lot of stupid responses to things...AZ’s border law, etc. Then he had to back track them because he spoke before knowing what it was, something he does WAY TOO OFTEN for comfort. He’d be labeled another “W” in 5 seconds. He;s had a few good speeches, but I have not heard a truly great one from him. He tries to please both sides. He comes across as being conflicted. He is not a leader and America would suffer greatly with him as president now. He needs a lot more time to figure out what he really stands for.
Classic. That one may be on youtube.

When You, Rush and Levin figure out that helping Rubio with his conservative cred is a really stupid thing, let me know. You think you stop this mess by giving support and a huge boost to the guy pushing it?
No wonder conservatism has gone to hell if people think like you.
