(Newser) The Watertown man whose boat was destroyed after Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found hiding in it is touched that people are raising funds to buy him a new onebut he wants them to save their money for bomb victims. "It makes me feel wonderful that people are thinking like that," but "I don't want that really," Dave Henneberry tells WCVB. "I would wish that they donate it to the One Fund Boston. They lost limbs. I lost a boat."
Henneberry says his obsession with the boat, Slip Away II, led him to inspect it when the "shelter-in-place" order was lifted during the manhunt. He says that after he climbed a ladder and spotted Tsarnaev, "I didn't waste any time. I didn't ask him if he wanted a cup of coffee. I was off that ladder. That is all I remember" before calling 911. The boat is now a blood-stained, bullet-riddled messand police evidence. "Slip Away is slipping away. But I say it did its job," he says. "It held a bad guy and is going away like a Viking ship." (Meanwhile, Tsarnaev has opened up about the motivation for the attacks.)

There are times when one’s faith in humanity is restored. This is one of them.
Mr. Henneberry is a fine man and a model American. Good will come back to him, probably double what he’s done.
It will probably turn out to be workplace violence anyway.
A man with some character.
Good Yankee...southern embrace.
man that is rare today...I am mightily impressed
A man with a boat who has a boatload of character.
I wish he’d run for John Kerry’s old senate seat.
I have 4 of them.
I am always happy when I sell them because so far I have made $$$ on each one
The original reporting was that he went out for a smoke. That has morphed into "he went out to get some air".
It's just not politically correct to admit that any US citizens smoke cigarettes. The news biz won't report it.
No terrorism charges have been filed, have they?
Class.
Boat: Hole in the water where you throw your money. Or flash/bangs if you got em.
.. have only one Bayliner to give for my country !
I gotta say I like this guy.
Maybe we’ll see it on the State Fair circuit.
A chief engineer on one of my ships was vacillating about buying a rather large boat but but worried about how long it would take when it came to sell. I told him to buy the boat and put it right back on the market and use it till it sold.
Next time a city locks down when looking for a terrorist we should all immedietly go outside. When authorities challenge you, say you were just out for a smoke.
"It held a bad guy and is going away like a Viking ship."I hope he's not going to be too disappointed when he finds out the low-life gets off for not being properly marandized...and no lawyer present when questioned.
Screw that. Rewarding the cops for wanton destruction of personal property.
"Dat's da Revnum Doctuh Martin Luthah King JUNYAH, to yoo, Crackuh-ass!"
