A local Brownsville bar was shut down for allegedly selling alcohol without a permit.
The bar, once called Xolchi’s on Boca Chica Boulevard, sold a bottle of Miller Lite to an undercover Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission agent.
On Friday, the investigation ensued to determine if they were selling alcohol without a license.
The bar did not have a permit or license to sell alcoholic beverages.
At around 9:15 p.m. two agents entered Xolchi’s and bought a beer for $1.75 from bartender Casimiro Hernandez.
Agents seized 140 bottles of Michelob Ultra, Bud Light, Budweiser, and Miller Lite.
Hernandez was arrested for selling alcoholic beverages without a license, and was booked at Cameron County Jail.
According to the Alcoholic Beverage Code, Hernandez will face up to a $1000 fine and/or one year in jail.

I know it’s crap beer, but come on, it’s beer! Let people drink it. They could sell it, and make the money back they spent on the operation, with some left to spare.

Miller Lite has alcohol? Who knew?
Non-permitted “drink houses” are scattered about the older, lower income neighborhoods of cities in my area. People set up a bar in their basement, sell shots for $2, make a profit and provide a safe place for the neighbor’s to party and be able to stagger home without driving.
Dance floors and stages are common and some are set up with wide screen tv’s for sports.
Sounds like a house party to me.

$1.75 a beer?? In Chicago you can’t even by a tiny glass of the worst beer ever ..Old Milwaukee for that. Also PBR has made a resurgence....oh my gosh I drank a sip to ser why and gagged...it’s that bad.
It was just an “undocumented business”, we demand amnesty for undocumented businesses!!!!!!!
Hipsters drink PBR ironically. Maybe that’s why it’s sorta coming back.
