To break the monotony of the media rushing to make fools of themselves over the Marathon bombing story I thought I'd bring up a subject that got me thinking earlier today while listening to a classic rock station instead of my usual talk show selection.
I lived through the 70's explosion of hard rock music and although some of it still gets me rocking in my own geriatric way. I thought I'd ask if anyone here had bands that were popular that they never liked, or/and still don't care to hear.
‘’My bad.... memory’’ Yeah, hear on that one. That’s why I asked. Thought my was going... again. Uh, um.. what was I sayin’’. :-)
What in Sam Hill was that?
Three years ago I teamed up with Mark Stein of VF to write his bio/a history of rock in the golden age. We could. Not find a publisher, but Mark has it. On his web site, www.mark-stein.com. It is IMHO a very good book. It has all of the details of the albums, the breakup, Cactus, Boomerang, and Beck Bogert Appice.
There was a conservative talk show host from Texas who I used to listen to named David Gold who was a brilliant historian of rock and roll's evolution through the 60's. Sometimes he would get into discussing music and artists and I would be mesmerized and wished he'd never stop. He was also writing a historical book on rock music that I was looking forward to. I think he has been dealing with health problems and deafness. I called him once and learned he was a FReeper (davidtalker), but I haven't seen him here in some time.
David, if you're out there; I miss ya.
Ok, just so you’re clear, “Rockin’ the Wall” is about music’s part in bringing down the Berlin Wall. Our SEQUEL, which isn’t finished yet, “Other Walls 2 Fall,” is about music in the Islamic world.
I’m learnin’ ... it’s flashing back that I heard about rockin the wall somewhere else, too.
Good book by Rudy Sarzo on his years with Ozzie and Randy Rhoades.
“How about Pat Benatar, then?”
Screeching alleycat, LOL!
