Mark Levin (Goes "All In" Defending Rubio?)
Mark Levin ^

Posted on 04/18/2013 10:30:55 AM PDT by Windy City Conservative

While I oppose the immigration bill, given the border-security issue and Obama's record of non-enforcement, among other things, I regret linking to a post that refers to Senator Rubio as a slick used car salesman. He is earnest and thoughtful and deserves much better. He loves his country and means well, unlike too many politicians. There are slick used car salesmen on Capitol Hill, many come to mind, but Rubio is certainly not one of them.

Also, while I'm on the subject, there are bloggers, columnists, and radio hosts who will personally trash Rubio because they think that shows how tough they are on illegal immigration or how conservative they are. Actually, they are pretenders. Most of them have done nothing on this issue or for the conservative movement. Landmark Legal Foundation has been involved in every recent, major piece of litigation against the Obama administration involving illegal immigration, including assisting Arizona in its defense of its law and borders. We went all the way to the Supreme Court. I don't recall any of these "tough" guys and gals behind their computers and microphones lifting a finger. None of them. Talk is cheap, and many of them are frauds.

To try and devolve it quickly would punish each and every one of us. Something to think about.

Agreed. But we are all being punished right now: higher local taxes, overwhelmed local schools, hospitals overflowing, hospitals bankrupted, not to mention higher crime rates. The short-term "punishment" resulting from a drop in the supply of illegal labor would be more than offset by a great many pluses.

I fault Rubio for one thing....for allowing Reid and Leahy to ram this monstrosity though the Senate with only one day for hearings, and not even allowing time for the bill to be read. Rubio was brutal in his criticism of House Dems for doing that with Obamacare; not he allows the same thing to happen. He could have demanded that several weeks be allowed for hearings, and to provide time for the public to read, and digest, the bill, as a condition of his support. He failed

“My state put Rubio in office, and he is ten feet taller than any of his opponents.

He may not be right on all the issues, but he is a patriot.”

A patriot would NEVER hire Cesar Conda, who worked for George Soros as his chief of staff. Do some research before you vote next time.

I agree we are all being punished right now - but we are being punished far more from those here to get benefits and those who commit crime than we are by other segments. And you are shockingly naive about the impact on labor. and you are naive if you think it’s about “cheap” labor. It is imbedded at every level of our economy and it would be utterly devastating and far from short term. If I were not convinced of that, I would certainly be in favor.

You know, your comments here are rather kindergartenish and foolish, not to mention totally off base. I have no interest in this except to want it solved. I think I have the business, economic, hiring and firing experience to bring something of value to the table. All you have is a temper and ignorance of the real dynamic. You yourself admitted fighting this for 40 years...so you are admitting that it is a long term problem and that what you are doing is an abject failure. I don’t have time to continue to fail.

FRiend, I think you’re shockingly naive about the ability of the free market to adjust — and relatively quickly at that — particularly with a nearly 17% unemployment rate (those 20+ million unemployed citizens are *not* all hopelessly unemployable, skill-less flotsam). Beyond that, those millions of illegals imbedded in the economy won’t all just disappear in the blink of an eye, even under the best of circumstances. In short, an adjustment certainly; painful, perhaps somewhat, and more so in some regions than others; but hardly Doomsday.

I wish you were right, but I think you are shockingly naive about the native work ethic regarding manual, repetitive physical labor. I also don’t think you have any idea how much our government is doing to insure that it never comes back. And then there’s the fact that you are ignoring the notion that we are here precisely because of the market reacting...over 60 years...and now you want me to believe that it can quicly unravel 60 years? Dont’ think so.

I mean, wish it could.....wish I were wrong....but I don’t think I am.

Kid youre the one who is insulting immigrants and supporting the criminal illegal aliens...

Only an anti-immigration sort who hates America and the Constitution would continually push AMNESTY like you have done throughout this thread...

I was upfront and identified myself as an immigrant

thus supplying my creditals and right to speak on this subject of illegal entry into my sovereign nation by 30 MILLION illegal aliens over the years...

and denounce it as ever wrong...

and my natural concerns for the detriment to my country

and the offense to myself as a law abiding visitor and immigrant aqbd US veteran..

and now naturalised American citizen...

you on your part went for my honest throat and chose to expose your dislike of immigrants who have all chosen to respect the laws of America...

I do not know what your game is either than to support Rubio, McCain, Kennedy et al in their push for AMNESTY against my countrys best interests

but you cannot to me from this time forth produce any evidence that you just might feel for the plight of immigrants caught up in this treason called AMNESTY

there is none ...

AMNESTY is a spit in the face of all immigrants...

AMNESTY is ANTI-IMMIGRATION...

AMNESTY is ANTI-AMERICAN..

Thus your Rubio is ANTI-AMERICA..

You appear to have enjoyed your little self today supposedly at my expense...

As an imigrant I do not have a voice in this...

You wont listen to reasonable talk of what is lawful..

You think it is funny to want to obey the law...

only for patsies eh ???

Rubio only listens to his own traiteous voice ...6 times last Sunday..

AMNESTY is TREASON against the United States...

and you call me naive, kindergartenish and foolish...

Work ethic is born of necessity. And I'll grant you that government policy is destructive to that when an unemployment check can get you almost as much as a minimum-wage job, without all the hassle.

As for millions of workers leaving the country, that is doable and has been done before. Nearly four million men were pulled out of the economy in 1942 alone, and that when the population was only about 130 million. The economy did not implode. What shortages there were were due mostly to rationing food, fuels and other raw materials to the war effort.

The market could adjust to large numbers of illegals leaving the economy. But, again, your point about government disincentives for work is well taken -- and much more easily solved than our immigration problem.

Nana, you’re one of the few who get it. Most people, on BOTH sides, just don’t want to believe what and who is behind this insanity....well, read it and weep!
Grover Norquist and the Unions THAT is WHO is important and will profit from Amnesty. And it won’t be only poor MEXICANS who Norquist/Obama will usher in!

Gang of 8 brings Norquist, Trumka together
http://dailycaller.com/2013/04/18/gang-of-8-brings-norquist-trumka-together/

3:58 PM 04/18/2013

WASHINGTON — The supporters of immigration reform who flanked the bipartisan Gang of Eight as they offered their immigration plan made for strange bedfellows, pairing the some of the loudest conservative activists with some of the most liberal.

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka was present, and he stood next to none other than Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.

Also present was Neera Tanden, present of the liberal Center for American Progress, along with Eliseo Medina, secretary-treasurer of the SEIU.

On the opposite side of the aisle, but behind the same podium, was US Chamber of Commerce executive Vice President for government affairs, Bruce Josten.

Sen. John McCain, one of the authors of the bill, acknowledged that the group of people standing behind the podium were not often seen together.

“I never thought I’d be standing with Richard Trumka,” he said, to laughs. But, he said, that broad bipartisan support was why he believed the bill would succeed.

The immigration reform bill was penned by a bipartisan group of eight senators: Republican Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Jeff Flake, and Marco Rubio, and Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Bob Menendez, and Michael Bennett.

NOTE: ACTUALLY it was written by Norquist & Conda! Norquist talked about it and it has the stench of Conda...everything he’s ever wanted!

I think the necessity will have to come back first...and I think you under estimate the barriers to that. I think it’s much worse than you are thinking it is.

I also think you under estimate the many many things that are different between now and 1942 - but I enjoy the give and take...and exchange of ideas.

Sweetheart, I can’t help it if you can’t comprehend the plain written word. You have accused me of stuff that can simply be disproven by a cursory review of my posts. Your rants are totally disconnected from anything I have said, and yet, you remain convvinced differently. I have simply stated what I think is possible and what I think is not possible, and very calmly laid out why I think this is the case.

I have made it clear, repeatedly, that I would like things to be differentl, and yet you have accused me more than once of practically being a traitor - and of wanting certain situations to exist, of supporting Obama’s immigration position - when all I have done is analyzed things as I know them to exist.

Actually, I hate that most of these situations do exist. I hate the reality that is this issue. I hate that it’s been building for 60 years or so, and I hate that as such, no quick fix is possible. You said you’ve been fighting it for 40 years. And yet, here we are. That should tell you something.

Here's a few problems I have with Rubio’s amnesty pitch:

1) McCain is his #1 partner with Schumer and Durbin as second

2) He dishonestly claims that giving ‘path to citizenship’(voting in elections) to those here illegally while staying here is not a jump ahead of line of those who are dumb enough to follow our laws and wait outside. This is obviously untrue.

3) He claims that his ‘plan’ will forbid the illegals who apply from ANY benefits including Obama-care. This is not believable and cant be true. How can they not get Obama-care? Obama care applies to everyone. He will let them stay here legally working uninsured while we get fined by the mandate?

He is slick talking like Clinton used to.

But this has not played out yet. He claims he will reject a bill if....

Let me guess this freepmail, for fun naturally :

Nana, you need to back off this xenophobia rant that you have been on. We need Hispanics to join the GOP. They are natural conservatives who hate abortion and gays and want to vote GOP.
Look , you and I are not so different. We both want the same thing, Its just that Rubio will get it for us, so please stop bashing him. So how about joining our team to save America?
