I won't be seeing it.

The makers of this film are completely tone deaf. They're doing the exact OPPOSITE of what they should be doing after Superman Returns flopped in 2005. They're making the same mistakes Returns made, and dropping anything Returns got right. Think about it.

What Superman Returns got RIGHT: Faithful to the Christopher Reeves Superman films & look of the comics, brought back iconic John Williams score, Brandon Routh was perfectly cast as Superman, awesome CGI effects to believably use deceased actor Marlon Brando to reprise Jor-El, epic and larger than life.

What Superman Returns got WRONG: Tired, rehashed villain that didn't need to be used (Lex Luthor), tired, rehashed plot (Luthor's gonna kill Superman with Kryponite and disguise it! Yeah, didn't see that coming), many of the supporting actors were terribly miscast (Kate Bosworth was too young and had zero chemistry as Lois Lane), the film tried to be "serious" and drained all the fun out of the story, making Superman emo, the "updated" Superman suit was too dark and the fill overall looked too drab, the film was politically correct and removes references to "the American way", the running time lasted forever and bored the audience to tears.

What Man of Steel does: Ignores Christopher Reeves films & "re-imagines" Superman without red underwear, ditches the traditional sweeping Superman music in favor of some brooding score, casts some British guy as Superman, the guy from Kansas fighting for the American way, casts Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Tired, rehashed villain that didn't need to be used (General Zod), tired, rehashed plot (child from Krypton is adopted as a child by Jonathan and Martha Kent, grows up to become a journalist for the Daily Planet, must accept his super powers, and stop a Kryptonian general and megalomaniac with the same superpowers as him from taking over earth!), many of the supporting actors are terribly miscast (Laurenece Fishburne is Perry White!), the film wants to be "serious" and drains all the fun out of the story, making Superman even MORE emo, the "updated" Superman suit is too dark, the film is politically correct and removes references to "the american way", and the makes promise the film will run close to three hours.

Yeah... sorry guys, you blew it. BIG TIME.

If they can make me accept Van Alden from Boardwalk Empire as General Zod, they are miracle workers.

I have to agree, why are they rehashing the same story again and the same villain?

They don’t have to change Superman’s back story, they just don’t have to feature it in every movie.

I can only watch Jor El send him off, and the mother worries about it, and Pa Kent inspires him and he does super stuff as a kid,so many times. And then I get to see General Zod again.
