Damn.....IMHO the best NFL play-by-play caller, ever.

He almost hit me once! I was stopped on NW Hwy in the left turn lane (was pulled out too far) and he was turning left from Mockingbird Ln.

I almost forgot he first got started with Brookshier....who ended his career with that infamous comment about Louisville’s basketball team and “total team IQ...”

I bet those two were a hoot after a few belts.....

I was just thinking about him yesterday. He used to broadcast the Masters and other golf tournaments, too.

When I was living in SoCal (c.1973), Pat and Tommy Brookshire were the main play by play guys for the LA Rams games.

Every once and a while, Pat had a little too much cough medicine before the game.

No one complained. We all loved the guy more for it, in fact.

Simpler times, better times. Thanks to Pat

Go Mustangs !

As a Razorback and a football fan, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Summerall. It is a sad day. I hope he gets to call a game with Paul Eeels now!

If he had been British, no doubt there would be the usual snide comments about the NHS killing him.

However I will resist any such comment about US healthcare.

I remember watching his last broadcast. One of the posters in the stands read:

Summerral the same Pat,
But you’re one of a kind.

Pat and John Madden do some play-by-play and great, knowledgeble talk while broadcasting a Dallas - Miami game in 1996...

I miss the level of greatness that guys like Pat Summerall had!

He had the chops and most of all, the voice. I can hear it in my head typing this.

It seems that everybody I used to watch on TV when I was a kid is dying off. When will the madness end? If this pace keeps up, there will soon be nobody left alive that was on the TV when I was a kid.
